Your Stomach’s Best Friend

by Ashley Knight

I love food. I love eating it, cooking it, trying new foods while traveling, learning about it and growing it. My husband and I’s relationship revolves around food, God and our children. Not in that order, but you get the picture. We seriously love to eat good food. Occasionally, we also enjoy bad food, but our tolerance level for fast/processed food has severely declined since we’ve been eating whole, nourishing foods. Let’s be totally honest though, when food is delicious and flavorful, we lack self-control. I enjoy eating to the point of too much. When these occasions arise, I’m so thankful for…

Your Stomach's Best Friend

DiGize™ essential oil blend. It helps to soothe my tummy troubles because sometimes there can be too much of a good food or when we eat something processed.

Young Living’s proprietary DiGize™ essential oil blend combines Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Fennel, Lemongrass, Anise, and Patchouli essential oils. It promotes healthy digestion and may be helpful for those moments of overindulgence, constipation, nausea, indigestion, cramps, bloating, heartburn, diarrhea, belching, and general stomach discomfort.

We use this oil so much we keep a roller ball attachment on it and leave the bottle in our kitchen. Two weeks ago, our family dined at a Caribbean restaurant. It’s one of our favorites and we stuffed our faces with roasted pork, fried chicken and mofongos (a mashed plantain dish). It was a perfectly prepared, flavorful foodie heaven. I ate way too much so when we arrived home I immediately grabbed the DiGize™ and rolled it onto my belly. My husband knows the routine and just lifted up his shirt for me to apply it to him too. Although he didn’t overindulge like me, he uses DiGize ™ when he’s eaten a meal that is more rich than our normal fare. I felt relief soon after application. The next morning I laughed as I was making our bed because our sheets smelled like DiGize™. It was one of my many “you know you’re oily when…” moments.

Although I had DiGize ™ in my home long before my second baby, I really discovered it’s power to fight acid reflux and indigestion during my second pregnancy. The first time I was pregnant I could eat almost anything and craved spicy foods without digestive issues. However, with our second baby it was a different story. I couldn’t eat spicy foods without a bout of indigestion. I would rub DiGize™ on my stomach once I felt the burning begin and it would very quickly subside. If I was really thinking and wasn’t in a total pregnancy/mom of a toddler brain fog, then I would apply it before eating something I knew was going to upset me. It was during that pregnancy when I realized this is an amazingly powerful blend of essential oils.

DiGize™ is a great blend to have in your cabinet for post holiday feast application too. With the holiday season in full swing, there are sweet food temptations everywhere. Even when we practice self-control, the sweets, gravies and rich sauces can disrupt your digestive system. This is when it’s time to pull out the DiGize™. If our meal is especially rich or we eat something we don’t eat regularly like Frito Pie (seriously why is Frito Pie so delicious?!), we automatically apply DiGize™ just to be safe.

Another great way to use DiGize™ essential oil blend is when you’ve been traveling. My husband travels frequently for his work and is a very adventurous eater. By adventurous I mean he will eat anything once. For example, he ate balut (a fertilized chicken egg with embryo) in the Philippines. He didn’t tell me about this until much later because he knew my tender heart would be troubled. After his last trip to Peru, he came home with a very upset stomach and flu-like symptoms. He was making frequent trips to the bathroom, so I had him begin taking a drop of DiGize Vitality™ in a gel capsule. This helped to settle his very upset digestive system. I’ve also heard that it is good for fighting parasites and so I thought it would be good to cover all bases. Even if you aren’t an adventurous eater and prefer to play it safe while traveling, usually we’re still eating differently than we would be at home so we’re more likely to have stomach discomforts. Thus, DiGize is a handy tool to have in your travel bag should you need to boost your digestive system.

Finally, I want to mention for all the mommies out there that Young Living makes a diluted version ofDiGize™ for our kiddos called TummyGize! I’ve used this for my daughter, Grace, who gets car sick. Also, there have been a few times where Grace has vomited for no apparent reason. I assumed it was probably a stomach virus of some kind and quickly applied TummyGize to her belly. By the next morning, she was back to normal. I’ve even diluted this oil a bit more for use on our baby whenever she has been gassy or just couldn’t seem to fall asleep due to gas pains.

As always I hope this information was helpful. Be sure to check out TheDropsofJoy.org to watch a video about DiGize™ and learn more.
