Your Future is Bright

Your Future is Bright

By Rhonda Stoppe

There is hope to be a no-regrets woman in 2021. Do you believe that? What steps are you taking to build a no-regrets life? Seriously… Right here, Right now, at this time in history – What are you doing?

Can you look back at 2020 and name something you accomplished, learned, or achieved that will help you live with no-regrets in 2021? Do you believe there is hope to be a no-regrets woman in 2021?

Life is so busy, it’s easy to let days, weeks, even years go by simply keeping our heads above water. Is that really how God intends His people to live? To this, I answer a resounding NO!

I get it, motherhood brings exhaustion and encouragement, guilt and glory, security and insecurity all at the same time––Can I get a witness?

When you fall into bed at night, do you cringe as you review how the day went? As a young mom, I remember…

  • Chastising myself for how short-tempered I was with my two-year-old
  • Regretting how little time I spent interacting with my husband (Whether in conversation or in the bedroom)
  • Telling myself, tomorrow will be different. I’ll do better I promise (only to find myself reviewing my failures again the following night)

Do you realize you are writing the story of your life? Each day you wake up is a new opportunity to live with no regrets. Psalm 90:9 says: We spend our years as a tale that is told.

If you determine to allow God to write your story, there is hope to be a no-regrets woman 2021.

In the Bible, the Apostle Peter reminds us: All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls. (1 Peter 1:24)

James 4:14 says: Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

If you are but a vapor, a flower quickly fading, what can you do to make the most of the time you have in this life––and with the eighteen (plus or minus) years you have with your kids at home?

There is hope to be a no-regrets woman in 2021. Here are some practical steps you can take:

  1. READ YOUR BIBLE. Determine to daily spend time with the Lord by reading His Word. Remember spending time reading your Bible is spending time with Jesus.

-I know, I know, you are a busy mom, and taking the time to read your Bible seems like a low priority on your “to-do” list. But I promise you are too busy not to equip yourself with God’s Word. For in your quiet time with Christ you will find the wisdom you need to be a no-regrets mom.

Proverbs 2:6 says, “The Lord gives Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

  1. PRAY, pray and pray some more. It is the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous woman who avails much (James 5:16). If you’re not praying for your kids, who is?

-Listen to God’s observation in Ezekiel 22:30: And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

May it never be said of our generation that God could not find anyone standing in the gap in prayer for our children––your children.

  1. GO TO CHURCH. (Oh I am sorry, I think I just shouted that point!)

-Do you realize it is God’s mandate for His people to meet together each week to hear the preaching of God’s Word, worship together, pray in unison, and love on each other?

-There’s no way around it, if you are not taking your family to church you are disobeying the Lord’s command in Hebrews 10:25: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

If you are married to a man who does not want you to attend church on Sundays, pray regularly for God to change his heart, and then determine to find a  women’s Bible you can be a part of. And enroll your kids in a mid-week Christian kids program that teaches from the Bible and encourages Scripture memory.

-While at church, look for godly mentors, Titus 2 women, at church who can teach you what they have learned about loving their husbands, and loving their children.

In my 38 years of ministry to women, I have observed without exception, that women who forsake these God-given resources build regretful lives. I don’t want to get to the end of it all and wish I had lived more deliberately. What about you? Following the above steps is a great place to start the year off right, because there is hope to be a no-regrets woman in 2021.
