Your Christmas Eve Pep Talk
By Meggan Larson
Merry Christmas Eve y’all!! This is by far my favourite week of the year. Saturday was my 11 year anniversary, tomorrow is Christmas day, and in three days it’s my birthday! Wooooohooooo! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I have a lot of eating planned this week, I’m not gonna lie. I’ve been emotionally exhausted this month for many reasons so tomorrow a very special woman is delivering a prepared turkey dinner to my family (prepped by a hotel restaurant here).
It’s not going to be on plan but you know what?
That’s okay. I needed a break. I needed to not have to prepare a turkey dinner and slave in the kitchen all day tomorrow. I run a Christmas nonprofit and we put together gifts and dinner for 27 families this Christmas. I’m tired y’all! Plus, I’ve had some family drama to deal with and when this sweet lady offered to gift me this amazing meal I wasn’t going to turn her down! I know that I can just eat the meat and veggies and make my own sugar free dessert. I might sneak some stuffing because hello, it’s the best part! I’m not going to gorge, I’m just so grateful I don’t have to make it myself. If I had more energy this year I would because I like to be able to eat everything and have leftovers but I’m spent. For my birthday I’m going to have my annual fondue and I’m going to love it! Again, I’m not going to eat until I feel like a balloon, but I’m going to enjoy myself.
I guess my point is, have fun this Christmas! Eat and be merry and go into the new year knowing that you did your best and you made some awesome memories. Christmas is not a time to stress about every bite that goes into your mouth. Make the best choices you can and just enjoy spending time with the people you love. Life is way too short for anything else.
