You Have the Power
By Meggan Larson
Been tempted lately? I know I have. It’s very frustrating and I find the more you say yes to temptation, the harder it is to say no eventually. With Thanksgiving come up for Americans it’s important to stick to your resolve. If you say yes to cheating on Thanksgiving then you’ll likely continue that trend until after New Year’s.
This is the time of year that…
…can either make or break you.
Thanksgiving just so easily leads into Christmas which in turn leads into New Years. This is the time of year that you either decide to stay strong or you decide to eat whatever you want and start over on January 1st.
A case can be made for either decision I’m sure, but today I’m going to make the case for starting now. Sure you can wait, but do you know how much weight you can potentially gain between now and New Year’s?
I do because I’ve done it. This is not coming from a place of judgment but of love. I once gained 20lbs between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. Isn’t that brutal? Goodness I was horrified. I look at those pictures of myself from that time period and I can see the shame in my expression. I can see the sadness in my eyes and the fact that I’m trying to hide myself behind someone so that people won’t see how much weight I had gained.
A very important lesson I’ve learned over the years is that YOU have the power. You get to decide if you’re going to go off the rails or stick to your plan. You get to decide if you’re worth it or not. Sometimes that’s going to mean talking yourself down while standing in the pantry getting ready to eat some Halloween candy because you’re hormonal. Not that I’ve ever done that…
Remind yourself that you’re worth it and that eating that junk will NOT get you to goal and it won’t make you feel better either. I understand having the occasional treat but just make sure you have the ability to jump right back in. If you’re not that type of person, then walk away girlfriend, walk away.
