Wolfberries… Better Than Gummy Bears!
by Terri Bonin
Have you tried the dried wolfberries, yet? This yummy all natural food is the perfect substitution if you have a kid addicted to gummy bears, sour patch kids, or anything fruity and chewy.
I divide our big bag into little portion cups or baggies so that everyone gets some! Otherwise, I end up eating the whole bag by myself! It also makes it convenient to throw into lunch sacks.
The nutrition in wolfberries is powerful and you don’t have to worry about your sugar spiking! Which also makes this the perfect snack for those who like to keep their blood sugar balanced.
Wolfberries are very popular around the world with because they contain polyphenols and polysaccharides. Wolfberries have been recorded as far back as the Ming Dynasty.
Although we love to eat them straight out the bag like candy, here are some other ways to enjoy them:
- Add them to plain yogurt for a real treat!
- Substitute raisins in homemade granola with wolfberries.
- If you like to make trail mix, add these pretty red berries. Yum!
- Instead of using blueberries in your muffin recipe try it with wolfberries.
- Add them to your salad. Amazing!!!
You can even use them to make a Wolfberry Tea! Here is the recipe from Young Living:
Wolfberry Tea. Bring 8 ounces of water to a rolling boil, let cool for 3 ½ minutes. Line bottom of cup or mug with dried wolfberries and add water. Steep for 5 minutes and stir before drinking. Wolfberries can also be added to your Slique Tea for a nice flavor twist. Once you have finished your tea, don’t forget to enjoy the hydrated wolfberries!
This super fruit has been known to reduce high cholesterol levels (LDL levels), improve gastrointestinal functions and reduce stress and fatigue, protect brain cells, protect your liver from damage, improve your sleep quality, and improve eyesight.*
You’ll be glad you made the healthy switch for your family! Especially with back to school lunches and snacks just around the corner!
