What’s Your Christmas Tradition?
by Meggan Larson
First of all, Merry Christmas!! What a wonderful time to celebrate with friends and family. I hope you’re having an absolutely amazing day. This year for Christmas I decided to be completely on plan because I’m down 15lbs and 18.5 inches in the last couple of months and I wanted to keep that trend going. Last year was a very different story and I will tell you that tale next week. For this week I’d love to know what your Christmas traditions are!
There is actually a way to be on plan during the holidays…
First, decide that you want to be on plan. Hah! If you don’t then that’s okay, no guilt or pressure. But if you do then stay away from the off plan foods. It IS possible with a little motivation, preparation, and determination. Make your own turkey dinner if possible using sprouted bread for the stuffing instead of white bread. Skip the mashed potatoes, load up on veggies, and make your own dessert! Honestly a lot of Christmas dinner is on plan if you’re careful and then you’ll feel much better for sticking to your guns instead of stuffing your face with sugary pie (not that I’ve ever done this of course).
If you’ve chosen to be off plan then enjoy it! But don’t necessarily go nuts. They’re not empty calories just because it’s Christmas. There isn’t a Christmas miracle waiting to happen on that cheesecake you just inhaled. Eat and enjoy yes, but save yourself the guilt of going absolutely crazy and get back on track as soon as you can. Christmas is one day, not ten. 😉
