What Makes You Stand Out

This past week was Vacation Bible School at our church. I don’t know about you, but VBS to me means three hours of stillness in my home and I look forward to it like a preschooler longs for Christmas morning. The kids had an awesome time. I got caught up on the laundry and my writing. And at the end of the week, we all celebrated with a big performance at church.
So, there I was, in the crowd. I was sitting near the back of the church while all the kids filed out and filled up the stage. They began singing, but just like every other parent there, I was frantically looking for something…
–MY CHILDREN!
God wants a victorious life for you. He wants a life of success and abundance. Some people aren’t trusting Him at all for that and they gripe and complain all day about their lives. Then there are some people who say they trust Him, but in the back of their minds, there is doubt and stress.
But, then, every once in a while, there comes along a rare person who is totally sold out to God. That person says in their heart, “I don’t care what my circumstances look like right now. I’m believing God for the victory. He is coming through for me in a greater way than I can even imagine. I’m not going to doubt. I’m not going to stress out. I’m going to have joy and peace and know that my God is faithful!”
I believe you are that person or you wouldn’t even be reading this right now. I believe you are that person who has the faith to shine out in a dark world! Because THAT is what gets God’s attention! While I was looking for my kids in that VBS crowd, I was looking for the purple headband I gave to Klara to wear, and the orange striped shirt that Kenna was wearing. But when it comes to God seeking out His army, He looks for that bright light of faith!
“Who touched me?” He asked. The disciples thought He was crazy. Everyone was touching him! They were pressing in from all sides. But Jesus felt that distinct touch of faith that sets that rare individual apart. He felt it, and He responded to it!
A woman who had an issue with bleeding was pushing through the crowd, believing that if she could just touch His robe, she would be healed. And, sure enough, as soon as her hand grazed His garment, she was healed. The power of God didn’t automatically pour out of Jesus. If so, everyone who had touched Him that day would have been restored completely. Jesus FELT the power pour from Him the moment her faith touched Him.
God is searching for you right now. No matter what you are dealing with, or what past you are hauling around, God wants to restore you completely and give you the abundant life He created you to live. But you’ve got to stand out in the crowd. You’ve got to exhibit that quality He is looking for. You’ve got to have FAITH!
Today, I want you to believe God. I want you to fully rest in the assurance that what He says about you will come to pass. He says you’re healed, so you’re healed. He says you’re rich, so you’re rich. He says you’re forgiven and set free, so you are. Quit believing the lies that God wants you to suffer through this life. Jesus already took our suffering. God’s goal in redemption was to treat you as if sin had never happened. Accept that abundant life. Reach out and grab it by faith!
