What A Dream Really Looks Like

What A Dream Really Looks Like

Hannah Keeley

Do you have a dream inside of you? Of course you do! God has breathed dreams inside each of us. I don’t know what your dream looks like, but I wanted to share a dream that my husband, Blair, has had for decades. He has always dreamed of learning to fly. Nothing gets him more excited than the idea of soaring through the sky in an airplane! For me, I’m just as happy keeping my feet on the ground. But, not Blair! That man loves flying!

Several weeks ago, we sat down to do a little personal analysis. By the way, if you are not having regular meetings with yourself, you need to start that now. Blair and I often have a date every few months to just sit down and go over our goals and discuss our progress. During this one date, we decided to dig a little deeper and breathe some new life into some big, fat, “out there” goals. For over 40 years, Blair has wanted to fly, so we decided to set that dream into action and develop a plan of attack to usher it into reality.

Who knew it took so much to learn to fly? Visits to the airport, meetings with his teacher, poring over books and manuals…It requires a lot of hard work! But that’s what dreams are—EFFORT! Anyone who says that it isn’t is either trying to sell you something or doesn’t have the results to back it up. People get all caught up in the fluffiness of dreams, but they don’t realize that underneath the fluff is an iron-hard core that has taken lots of effort to build.

THIS IS WHAT MOST PEOPLE THINK A DREAM LOOKS LIKE:

What A Dream Really Looks Like

BUT THIS IS WHAT A DREAM REALLY LOOKS LIKE:

Do you see what I’m getting at here? Ecclesiastes 5:3 tells us, “A dream comes with much business and painful effort.” It doesn’t say that a dream comes by sitting back and wishing. It happens when you take that wish that is burning inside of you and doing what you need to do and investing what you need to invest to make that dream a reality.

Success never feels like you think it’s going to feel. It isn’t that exhilarating, wind-in-the-face emotional response that you see in the movies. It feels like work. When I work out, my muscles hurt. Sometimes after a ton of squats, my rear end is so sore that I’m not sure how I’m going to sit on the toilet. But that’s what it takes. Everyone wants the muscles, but very few are willing to tolerate the reps. Everyone wants to have a lot of money, but very few are willing to stick to a budget.

I want you to dream, and dream BIG! I also want you to want it so bad that you’re willing to do what it takes to make it happen. The success doesn’t come in the big, huge milestones. It happens when you practice the day-to-day discipline to do the work. The real success isn’t what you see. It’s what goes on behind the scenes.

Today, there is a dream burning inside you. Maybe it’s to make that marriage work or to get out of debt. Maybe you want to organize your home, or purchase another home. Whatever the dream, plot out how you’re going to make it happen and then roll up your sleeves and get to work!

I hope this message has inspired you to go after your dreams. If so, please keep the inspiration going by forwarding this email or posting it on Facebook. Someone you know needs to be inspired today. Share the love and let’s make our dreams happen!

hannah_keeleyHannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
