Trim & Healthy Mama Tip in a Minute

“Trim & Healthy Mama Tip in a Minute”

I often see people commenting about and focusing on recipes they don’t like or ingredients they can’t stand. There are SO many recipes in the book, blogs, and Pinterest that I am positive you can find recipes you DO like. Full disclosure – I don’t like or use…

…flax.

And I won’t make any baked goods that call for almond flour. I don’t make any bread, cake, or muffins in a mug and I’ve still lost 60lbs in a year eating 100% on plan. THM isn’t about completely changing the kinds of food you like and forcing you to eat things like flax and patchouli if you don’t want to. THM is about food freedom! Now that doesn’t mean that you can eat a totally off plan meal and call it a crossover – that my friends is not a crossover. 😉 If you’re not sure what a crossover is, go ahead and read pages 95-102. They do a phenomenal job of explaining what a crossover is and who should be eating them!

There are a lot of variations of recipes online that are quite helpful if you’re like me and can’t stomach the thought of drinking anything with raw apple cider vinegar in it. If that’s you, look up the fruit punch version of GGMS on pinterest (you’re welcome). As a side note, I had never even HEARD of “The Mother” before and whenever I saw people mention it in the facebook groups I would just nod and smile and comment “Of course! The mother…” having no idea what that actually was. Clearly if I can figure out how to lose 60lbs after cancer and a hysterectomy then you’ll be able to as well.

Don’t try to force yourself to completely change everything about your tastes because you likely won’t stick with it. THM is a way of life not a quick fix. Give yourself time and grace to figure out your favorite recipes and maybe make up some of your own – eventually. Enjoy the journey and stay the course! You’ll get there.

Thanks for this encouraging and freeing reminder. I am growing to love this site more and more daily. I, too, am a mom of many, (7), have been a mom for 20+ years, and will celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary this month (April 2015). THM has been a wonderful discovery for me, as well.

  2. Thank you. I’m on day 2 of my start over. I’m on a squeeky tight budget right now. I’ve put it off because of that. I’ve decided to just do the best I can one meal at a time. Thanks for this encouragement.
