The Top 10 Tips To Seeing Results on THM!- Part 2

By Meggan Larson

Last week I gave you the first 5 tips that I use to lose weight with THM. I hope that they were helpful to you! THM really is an entire lifestyle change and while I can give you the tips and tricks that have worked for me to lose 60lbs, you’ve gotta find what works for YOU. Every journey is different and isn’t going to look identical. We are all wonderfully made and each one of us is unique. It’s important to understand that when trying to follow someone else’s tips. I’m willing to bet that many of them will still work for you but if you’re having a serious stall I’d suggest getting back to basics and re-reading the book to see if there’s something simple that you may have overlooked.

With that being said, here are the next 5 tips that I use to lose weight with THM…

The-Top-10-Tips-To-Seeing-Results-on-THM!--Part-2_558x284

#6 ~ Use crossovers instead of cheating. I wrote an entire article on that subject because it’s become essential to my success on THM. I find I am much less tempted to go back to my old ways of eating if I can indulged in a crossover now and then. I highly recommend it.

#7 ~Drink half your body weight in ounces each day. Keeping your body hydrated is a sure fire way to let your body release extra weight. I find that when I don’t drink enough in a day, my body hangs on to every single ounce and I start to gain. Drinking is one of the simplest things I’ve found that works super well to flush the pounds away.

#8 ~ Eat every 3 (ish) hours. Again, this is another simple one but it’s so very important. If you go more than 4 hours between eating, your body stops trusting that you’re going to eat regularly and starts to go into starvation mode. Eating even a light protein centered snack (even if you’re not hungry) revs up your metabolism and lets your body know that it’s safe to let go of the extra weight.

#9 ~ Plan your meals and snacks. If you fail to plan, you do indeed plan to fail. It’s essential not to get caught starving with nothing pre-made or easy to grab. Those are the times you are most likely to go off plan because you’re just too hungry to bother. Make sure that you always have an emergency snack available and don’t guess at what’s for dinner at 4:55pm. Planning is one of the most important parts of THM and if I can do it, so can you!

#10 ~ Reduce your portion sizes. It’s true that we don’t count calories on THM (praise the Lord!) but it’s also true that if you’re anything like me, a massive plate of egg roll in a bowl is a regular occurrence. Cutting your cheesecake into 4 pieces instead of 8 is not exactly the best way to drop those stubborn pounds. Adding more veggies to your plate and reducing the amount of food you’re consuming is a fairly easy way to get the scale moving again. Don’t go hungry! But also, don’t eat until you’ve gotta undo your pants. 😉

There you have it. Those are my top ten tips to get that weight loss started and continuing to move. Remember that this isn’t a race. It took you more than a week to put on the weight and it’s going to take you more than that to take it off. Give yourself some grace, forgive yourself when you screw up, and keep on keeping on.

You can do this!

Meggan Larson is a wife, mom of three, and challenge overcomer! Being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and undergoing aggressive chemotherapy when her second born child was only three months old, gave Meggan an expected twist to her life. Dealing with pregnancy weight gain and the debilitating effects of chemotherapy, Meggan’s weight soared to over 228 pounds. Feeling humiliated with no desire to socialize, Meggan was desperate for a change. Shortly after losing 20 pounds with the Trim Healthy Mama program, Meggan found out she was pregnant with baby number three, which ended in an emergency C-section and unexpected hysterectomy. Despite the challenges she faced, Meggan has just celebrated her one year “trimiversary”, and her success of releasing just over 60 pounds! Meggan is confident that her success on plan is “doable” for anyone looking to gain back their health and wanting to live a trim and healthy lifestyle!
