Time To End The Pity Party
By Meggan Larson
Summer is here and the weather is finally (mercifully) warming up. The sun is shining, the beaches are looking more and more appealing, and it’s time to go swimming with your family and make memories that will last a lifetime. At the end of last summer you bought a new swimsuit in a size smaller than you were at the time because you KNEW that 2016 was going to be the year you got to that size. You had almost a full year to get yourself into shape and you knew that you knew that you knew that you’d fit into the bathing suit by July.
Only now that July is a few weeks away you know that you won’t fit into it. Not only that, you may not even fit into the swimsuit you were wearing LAST summer! You knew this was coming, could tell that your pants weren’t any looser than 6 months ago and might even be a bit tighter if you’re totally honest. You’ve been throwing yourself a pity party for quite a while and you know what?
Enough is enough!
We’ve got to…
…stop doing this to ourselves. Years of our lives are passing us by and we are only slightly healthier than we were at our worst! We keep giving up on ourselves or thinking that we have all the time in the world to get our act together but we both know that isn’t true.
Life is fragile and impossibly fast. Losing 50+ pounds isn’t going to happen overnight or even in a month or two. But in times of defeat and frustration I like to think of my good friend Carmen who lost 161lbs in 13 months. That’s an entire person! She lost a backstreet boy! (America’s Sweethearts) She just kept going. She didn’t give up. She just did her daily workout and reduced her portion sizes and BAM 161lbs off her body. I don’t even think she weighs 161lbs now! Look at stories like that for inspiration and let them give you hope that if someone can do THAT with no weight loss surgery then what can YOU do?
Pity parties are overrated. The summer is here yes, but it’s not over. If you weigh less than you do now at the end of the summer won’t that be a victory? THAT is worth partying about, not this. I can only think of one who would want you to focus on your failures and everything you haven’t accomplished yet. Look up, not down. Pray, give yourself grace, and start over. Summer officially starts on TODAY so use this weekend to prep your meals, get on track, make some goals, and un-invite yourself to your pity party. Ain’t nobody got time for that anyway.

Meggan Larson is a wife, mom of three, and challenge overcomer! Being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and undergoing aggressive chemotherapy when her second born child was only three months old, gave Meggan an expected twist to her life. Dealing with pregnancy weight gain and the debilitating effects of chemotherapy, Meggan’s weight soared to over 228 pounds. Feeling humiliated with no desire to socialize, Meggan was desperate for a change. Shortly after losing 20 pounds with the Trim Healthy Mama program, Meggan found out she was pregnant with baby number three, which ended in an emergency C-section and unexpected hysterectomy. Despite the challenges she faced, Meggan has just celebrated her one year “trimiversary”, and her success of releasing just over 60 pounds! Meggan is confident that her success on plan is “doable” for anyone looking to gain back their health and wanting to live a trim and healthy lifestyle!
