THM Week 1 – Again
by Meggan Larson
One week down again with Trim Healthy Mama and I have definitely learned a few things. It’s humbling to start over for probably the millionth time but that’s life sometimes. Sometimes our lives are chaotic and stressful and there are times when something so awful happens that it derails any success we had in the past. I totally get it. We don’t have to stay in that place though, we get to choose to move on from there and that’s what this week has been for me.
Moving the heck on…
I did well staying on plan fully with the exception of my hubby bringing home a treat we both thought was on plan and only after eating half the bag did I notice all the sugar. Gah! Lesson one ~ don’t assume something is on plan, check the dang ingredients!
I’ve been re-reading the plan book as well so that I can throw out everything I think I know about the plan and just start over from the beginning and that’s been huge. There hasn’t been anything that has shocked me in terms of how to eat the Trim Healthy Mama way, but I can see small areas where I’ve given myself more lenience than needed or allowed myself to eat way too many “personal choice” items. I had to go back to the beginning in terms of my excitement level where all I saw before me was hope instead of work. The fact is, I had convinced myself that THM was so much work but that’s only because it’s a lot of work if you’re doing it incorrectly. It’s not a lot of work if making that cheesecake takes 2lbs of fat off of your body in a week ya know? But if you use the wrong kind of crust and accidentally create a crossover time and time again then you’re going to start stalling and gaining weight and that is definitely too much work.
Cutting up some veggies and mixing Gwen’s ranch spice mix with some Greek yogurt takes about 5 minutes or less. Sticking to things that are not difficult is key; especially in the beginning. I had 2 fried eggs for breakfast most days last week because it was really easy and meant I could have my coffee with cream just the way I like it. I made sure to get some E meals in there and was down 1.5lbs in a few short days (4.5lbs if you count the massive weight spike and drop I had in 7 days * rolling eyes *) I decided to throw out the highs and lows and stick to the average. It’s going to be a journey but it doesn’t have to be a pressure-filled one. Here’s to one week closer to my goal!
