THM Can Stay For A Weekend Away

THM Can Stay For A Weekend Away

by Meggan Larson

I was on a girl’s trip this passed weekend and it was a much needed mini vacation. I was staying at a lovely house with a hot tub, more TVs than you would ever need in a single house, and I had been looking forward to it for months. I have been totally on plan for many weeks now and I didn’t want to derail my efforts by having a free for all weekend eating anything I wanted and feeling like complete garbage on Sunday night. Not only would I feel like garbage, it would also take me several days to get the sugar out of my system and that’s if I actually manage to get back on plan! No, I definitely didn’t want to do that to myself. So what did I do instead?…

I planned ahead. I planned every meal and made sure I had lots and lots of on plan options for snacks and desserts because I knew that when my off plan friends were having sugary desserts and candy, that I would inevitably want to have some as well. Instead of walking into a tempting situation with no preparation, I decided to make sure I didn’t let myself down by giving myself plenty of options. Now that the weekend is over I feel well rested and pleased with myself for staying on plan. I don’t have that inevitable feeling of guilt that follows eating off plan (for me anyway). And naturally I bought way too much food so I brought it home and now I have “on plan” food just waiting in my fridge and pantry.

I know that often when people go on vacation it’s basically a license to indulge WAY more than you would in a normal setting but it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s not even fun to feel bloated and fat and like you’ve done a disservice to your body. I used my passion planner (Side note – if you decide to get one please use my referral email address at if I get three referrals they’ll gift one to me and ship it to where I ask them to so I can give it away here!) all weekend and planned out some projects I want to get done this month as well as kept my weight goal in front of my face. Sure I had some crossovers because, hey I was on vacation! But that was me indulging. I didn’t have to eat a bunch of food that was going to pull me further away from my goal and make me have to work that much harder to achieve it. Instead, I had fun, ate delicious food, and felt great about myself at the end of the weekend.

Keeping your goals in front of you to remind yourself what you’re doing so that you don’t forget while you’re away. A lot of damage can be done in a weekend, but on the other hand, you can use your vacation to propel you into the next week of a successfully staying on plan. The choice is yours!

I love the THM lifestyle & am currently trying to get back to plan while encouraging hubby & 3 teens about the true victories in "Eating to Live, rather than living to eat"!
When I'm eating on plan, I actually find that food tastes better than ever and everything about my life is intensified & savoured so much more 😉
It's amazing how much is in those processed foods & even household products we can do without, that can effect our hormones & even thoughts processes, so we should get rid of them. Your Vibe attracts your Tribe…..Our happiness & friendships all stem from conscious decisions; let's make the right ones for the right reasons & be intentional with our health & all that this life has to offer.
Thanks for this great article pointing the way to prepping for health & happiness. 😉

Thanks so much Joan! Glad you enjoyed the article. And yes I totally agree there is so much processed stuff around us, it’s important to be intentional about what we eat, clean with, and use on our bodies!
