What is food freedom? I feel like that term is thrown around too loosely these days. Some think it means eat whatever you want anytime which ends up resulting in serious weight gain ~ pretty much the opposite of food freedom if you ask me. A lot of Trim Healthy Mamas have concluded that food freedom means eating whatever you want as long as you’re re-starting every 3 hours. That’s not exactly what the sisters meant when they wrote the book. So what IS food freedom then?
It’s different for everyone. Haha bet you weren’t expecting that answer! Well it’s true. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another so it’s important not to try to cram everyone into the same box. If it works for you to have an off plan treat a few times a week and it’s not causing you to stall in your weight loss then go for it! If it works better for you to stay completely on plan all of the time than that’s great! If you’re the type who is mostly on plan and only go off plan when you’re at someone else’s house who is serving off plan food or in a situation you have little control over then by all means do what works for you. Food freedom is what works for YOU not for someone else! If you’re getting the results you want then don’t spend time worrying about what other people are thinking or saying. IF you’re not getting results though, then it may be time to see what the problem is. Maybe you’re having a few too many off plan treats during the week. Maybe you’ve been going out to eat a little too often lately. It happens, this is a journey not a race. Though I know it sometimes feels like a race to get into bathing suit body before the summer hits. As long as you’re going in the right direction then that is what matters. Sometimes those FB groups get a little clogged up with other people’s opinions and the clashing that can happen is not helpful. Just be you. Realize where you’re at, what you need to do, what works and what doesn’t work for you and do that! Not everyone’s journey is going to look exactly the same and guess what? It’s not supposed to! Now THAT’S what I call freedom.
