This Is Insanity!
by Hannah Keeley
Has your life ever felt like INSANITY? I know sometimes for busy moms you can feel totally overwhelmed, like you’re hanging on by a thread…I was reminded of this last week when I found myself red-faced, covered in sweat, and wanting to give up…
Blair and I were doing the workout program, “Insanity.” Now, if any of you have ever done that exercise program, you will understand me when I tell you it pushes you to limits you didn’t know you had. It’s one of those, “grab a bucket, puke, and get back to work” kind of programs. It definitely carries the right title–it’s INSANITY!
In the middle of the workout…
…during one particular moment when I thought for sure I was going to collapse dead because of oxygen depletion, I ran upstairs to grab my asthma inhaler (actually, it was a good excuse to give me a 90-second break). When I ran into the kitchen, my son caught a glimpse of me. My face was beet red and I was dripping in sweat.
“What is wrong with you?” he asked.
“I’m doing Insanity,” I told him, between gasps.
“Is it too much for you?”
I answered, “Yes, it is.” Then I took a puff of my inhaler and went back downstairs to finish the workout. Here’s what I’m trying to tell you today. Sometimes, and way more often than you prefer, life is going to be too much for you. It’s going to feel insane, like you’re spinning out of control.
But, I want you to understand something. It only lasts for a moment. The insanity will never stop. It just waxes and wanes. God always gives you more than you can handle for two reasons–
1. He wants you to depend on His strength, not yours. And–
2. He is trying to grow you to carry more blessing.
Most people don’t realize this, but blessing is a burden and you’ve got to have strength to carry it. God wants to bless you with abundance in every area of your life, Mama, but you need the skills to manage it. If you stayed comfortable, you would never grow. God pushes you to limits that feel like it’s just “too much.” But that’s when you’ve got to take a deep breath (even if you need an inhaler), dig in your heels, and keep at it.
I know this as sure as I know the next breath that is flowing into my lungs–whatever God has placed in front of you, He will surely enable you to do. All you have to do is keep at it. Blessing is coming. It’s coming. It’s coming. IT”S COMING! Do not give up.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 tells us–“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
In other words, you can keep the “insanity” coming, but through the power of God Almighty, we will ALWAYS rise to the occasion and overcome every obstacle in our paths. Praise God! We’re on the winning team! The victory is OURS!
Keep growing. Keep going. Because God wants to bless you like crazy!

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
