The Skin Sensation
by Ashley Knight
My dearest readers, I would like to be completely honest with you. I have a problem… I love to pick at my face. If there is a bump or small zit or even the possibility of there being one, I am in the mirror squeezing and picking. I know this is a bad habit. It’s gross and destructive to my skin. Both my mom and my husband have told me to stop and trust me I’m working on it. Luckily, since I haven’t menstruated in almost three years due to having my daughters within 20 months of each other, I haven’t had the premenstrual acne I used to get. However, I will still have a few little zits that pop up at inconvenient times. This is when I pull out this amazing oil for clarifying and cleaning the skin…
Melrose™ is a blend of melaleuca (tea tree), naouli, rosemary, and clove. This blend is a powerhouse for purifying and cleaning whether it be the skin, cuts, scrapes or infections. Many of my oily friends also swear by Melrose™ essential oil blend’s ability to keep their skin clean and clear. This blend is also one of my go-tos when anyone in my family comes down with cold or flu-like symptoms. I begin alternating Melrose™ and Thieves™ blends on their feet. These blends are excellent at boosting the immune system as well as they have strong antiviral and antiseptic properties.
After reading many Melrose™ testimonials, I noticed that many testimonials spoke to its ability to alleviate ear infections. What Mama doesn’t want to know one more way to help their babies if they come down with the dreaded ear infection?!
My 5 year old had recently very bad earache in one ear, so I put some Melrose™ on it. I put 2 drops onto my hand and rubbed it onto the back of his ear and the inside, but NOT into the ear canal. I did this before and after his bath at night. He had a very sound sleep that night, despite of having complained of the earache for several hours before getting to bed. He felt much better by the morning with the redness and swelling being gone. I put an extra application on, but that was all he needed to feel better. He had no earache the next day at all. I wasn’t sure, if Melrose™ was going to work and was very surprised, that it worked as fast.

Another testimonial I found that I thought was especially helpful with spring and summer being just around the corner.
This past April while spending time with family for Easter, I had been out in the sun for too long and both my arms became sunburned pretty quickly. When I got home, I looked up sunburns in the essential oils reference book and found Melrose™ listed as an oil that would help. I put some Melrose™ on and the pain of the burn was gone! It soothed the pain completely. I used it for the rest of the week and continued as the burn began to peel a bit. Very soothing!

My husband and daughter both have beautiful red hair and the fair skin that comes along with it. I will definitely be creating a blend of Melrose™ essential oil blend and coconut oil to have on hand for those days when we forget to continually reapply the sunscreen.
Many essential oils can also be used on animals and Melrose™ is one of them. I am always careful when using oils on our fur baby as a dog’s skin is more sensitive, therefore I dilute the oils more than I would for my human babies. Here is an incredible testimonial about Melrose™ and a poor dog’s infected paw.
One afternoon I discovered that my chocolate lab, Bosco had a badly infected back paw, and his foot was swollen to twice its normal size and was oozing lots of thick pus with a very foul odor. Upon closer inspection, I found that he had stepped on a very sharp wood chip that had been driven through his foot and up through the top of his paw. I began soaking his foot in warm water with Epsom salts mixed with Thieves essential oil for 10 min 2-3 times a day. After soaking his paw each time, I irrigated the wound with a syringe, using alternately Thieves and Melrose. In addition to this, I gave him capsules of Inner Defense (contains Thieves, Oregano, Thyme and Citronella) alternating with capsules filled with Melissa (mixed with Hope). After his 1st capsule of the Melissa mixture, the foul odor completely disappeared. After a couple of days of soaking his paw, the rest of the shard of wood came out and the wound quit oozing. Once this happened, I switched from Thieves to applying Melrose and Purification alternately and the wound quickly closed up and is healing beautifully. Bosco and I are so thrilled!

Melrose™ has earned itself a permanent place in my first aid kit due to it’s ability to heal and clean the many cuts, scratches and zits that are thrown our way. I sincerely hope this article has been helpful to you and your family. If you would like to learn more, please head over to TheDropsofJoy.org.
