The Secret Workout
by Hannah Keeley
Check out these 7 Secret Workout Options…
Picking Up Clutter: Do deep knee squats to pick up the clutter instead of bending with your back. This targets the thighs and your rear view. Do a deep knee squat with each item and you’ll be feeling the burn in no time because if your house is anything like mine, new clutter is found every day!
Vacuuming The Floors: While you are vacuuming, make a conscious effort to tighten your abdominal muscles. Tighten and flex your abs as you push the vacuum out and relax them as you pull it back toward you. For bonus points workout your arms too while you push and pull the vacuum as fast as humanly possible to get that chore over with.
Loading the Dishwasher: Instead of bending at your waist to load up the dishwasher, use your thighs and butt to squat and load up the items on the lower shelf. Do a squat with each item and you will squeeze in a great lower body workout.
Dusting the Furniture: While you dust the furniture, lift up on your toes repeatedly. Lift your heels off the floor, hold for 1-2 seconds and then lower them back down. This tones the calf muscles.
Washing Dishes: Don’t stand idle in front of that sink. While you wash dishes, put on ankle weights and do some leg lifts. Keep legs straight and take turns lifting them to the side and bringing them back down. This is a great way to tone up those hips!
Folding Laundry: Strap on those ankle weights again, but this time you’re focusing on your thighs and rear view. As you fold the laundry, keep one leg slightly bent and lift them up behind you, raising it as high as you can and then lowering it back down to the floor. Repeat with the other leg. Focus on using your butt and the backs of your thighs.
Lifting Small Children: Okay, so it’s not cleaning the house but we do it all day, so you may as well turn it into a toning exercise. As you pick them up, don’t pull with your back. Use your biceps to pull them up and toward your face. Give them a kiss and lower them back down. Repeat until they are all kissed out or your biceps are throbbing.
These exercises are so under the radar you won’t even notice you’re working out!

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
