The Road to Blessing
by Diana Scothorn
My life has gone through repeated cycles of disappointment. Although I’m not someone to bring attention to hardship while going through it, I seemingly would tuck my misfortune securely away in a department in my heart labeled:
“UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN”!
The reality of my situation, I was in a cycle of curses, repeated series of evil occurrences. The more they would happen, the more I began to anticipate they would happen again. It was hard for me to understand why bad things kept happening. I tried so hard to do good, be good, and treat people with love and respect, yet bad things continued.
I remember after getting out of an abusive relationship…
…shortly after my house had an electrical fire, and I lost everything, including all my pictures. Including the births of my children, baby photos, birthday parties up until they were three and six years old. This was before any smartphone, where you could have 32,000 pictures saved on your iPhone. It was devastating.
Unfortunately, as these cycles repeated themself, I began to hold my breath until the next bad occurrence would happen. The reality is I had more faith in the devil to destroy my life than Jesus to redeem my life. Ouch! That hurts to say. I allowed my blessings to be blocked by having more faith in the devil. A curse is nothing more than a blessing blocker! The devil is on active duty to block our blessings.
Deuteronomy 28 says, “And it shall come to pass, if you will hearken the voice of the Lord thy God diligently, to observe and to do all His commandments which He has commanded you this day, that the Lord thy God will set you on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on to you and overtake you.” It tells us we will be blessed going in and blessed going out!
To be blessed means, we are empowered to prosper in all areas of our life. God wants us to thrive in our health, emotions, finances, and family! We have a 100% chance of success and repeated blessing if we do it in God’s way!
God has promised in His Word we will experience a time where the blessing will be so great it will be difficult for us to finish one cycle of blessing before the next cycle of blessing begins. Everything in life goes in cycles. A cycle is a series of occurrences that repeat itself; often, if we’re not careful, we’ll associate all cycles as “bad” cycles.
The devil wants us to dwell on our misfortunes, including torn relationships, depleted finances, failed diets, and bad reports! He wants our thoughts, emotions, and actions to be centered around cycles of defeat.
I have good news. We can enter into a new cycle. I love what Amos 9:13-15 in the Message Translations says…
“Yes, indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree.“Things will happen so fast your head will swim; one thing fasts on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people.
It means the moment we finish one cycle of blessing, the next cycle of blessing is already here! We will no longer just work but enjoy the fruit of our hard labor. We will possess and regain the ground that Satan has stolen and keep it forever!
We will experience restoration to the fullest in every area of our life. We will have restored finance, restored marriages, restored relationships, and restored health!
More importantly, our hearts will be restored. We will be whole and complete in every area of our lives permanently. We will go from blessing to blessing, glory to glory, and joy forever!
The devil wants to put us on a merry-go-round of one destructive cycle to the next bad cycle. If we hold on to God’s promises and get off the devil’s merry-go-round, we will enter into a perpetual cycle of blessings!
Although we may have experienced hardships, we can have faith to enter a new cycle. The cycle of perpetual, everlasting, indefinite blessings of God!
