The Power of a New Pair of Pants
By Meggan Larson
Have y’all ever watched the movie The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants? I’m not into the weird woo-woo stuff but I love that the pants look great on all of them. Last month I was shopping with one of my very best friends who is just as short as I am and almost as curvy. She had on a pair of pants and I couldn’t stop staring at them because they looked so good on her! They weren’t quite leggings but they weren’t quite jeans and they fit her in all the right places. I demanded to know where she got the pants and to my dismay, she had picked them up at a thrift store.
How was I supposed…
…to find the same pair of pants if she got them at a thrift store?! When she asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year I didn’t even hesitate. “Your pants” was my answer. She was understandably confused. “My pants? Like literally the pants I was wearing that day?” she asked with surprise. You see I know the power of a great pair of pants only I had forgotten. A good pair of pants that fit you properly and accentuates your curves instead of just making you look flabby can make you feel like a million bucks. Your confidence soars simply because you know you look good! You may not be at goal weight yet but that’s okay!
Much to my delight, she bought me a brand new pair of the very pants I wanted! I’ve worn no other pants since I got them. I went shopping, re-took my license picture, and for once didn’t hesitate to leave the house because I looked frumpy. I feel GREAT in them! (For anyone burning with curiosity they are American Eagle high rise, curvy, short, jeggings ~ that’s a mouthful right there). I haven’t been tempted to binge on junk because I don’t want to feel bloated in the pants. I even had my husband grab me a couple more pairs for my birthday gift in a couple of weeks.
I used to have a rule where I refused to buy any new clothes until I reached goal weight but I forgot how helpful a new pair of pants can be to remind you of your goal, keep you on track, and make you feel good in your skin again instead of wearing baggy jogging pants day in and day out. If you’ve been stuck wearing your hubby’s PJ pants for most of 2019 I highly recommend you splurge on yourself and get an awesome pair of pants. You might even luck into it at a thrift store! You deserve to feel good mama.
