The Faith Finish Line

The Faith Finish Line

by Diana Scothorn

I’m so excited God did not leave me where I was years ago! I had no vision for my future and absolutely no idea where I was going. I’m grateful God had a plan to get me where He had planned all along. I loved the Lord but never fully understood the faithfulness of Jesus as the Author and Finisher of my life. I had no idea what God had started in me from the moment I was born; He would FINISH to COMPLETION!

Jesus is the Author and FINISHER of our faith!  (Hebrews 12:2)  Translated, Jesus will FINISH what he BEGAN; if we have the faith to believe, He is able to see us through until the end. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

It’s so easy to get caught in the trap of starting a race and not reaching the finish line. Here’s three simple principles I’ve found essential to finish our race…

  1. Run at a pace you don’t get tired of before you reach the finish line.
  2. Run with confidence that Jesus is able to get you to the finish line.
  3. Decide in advance you’ll not quit; no matter what.

It’s easy to lose hope along the way when life interrupts our dreams.  Broken relationships, sickness, unexpected misfortunes, and world tragedies all contribute to the desire to quit along the way. Our job is to get back up and keep going; despite the circumstances.

No matter what we are facing, sickness, loneliness, frustration, weight issues, depression, marital problems, or discouragement, we need to keep going forward with the hope that God will see us through to the end!

God is not moved by the things that happen along the way. He still has a plan to COMPLETE what He BEGAN! It’s not up to us to get there; it’s up to us to trust Jesus to take us there.  Although God may navigate a different route than we anticipate, He will bring us to our destination.

I’ve learned over the years God is able!!!  Able is defined as having the necessary Power, Skill, and Resources. God has the power and resources to get us where we’re going.  It is not up to us to finish His work, but to not get weary along the way.  He’s doing the work in us and through us!

The devil strives to wear us down until we give up. God specifically tells us in the Bible not to get weary doing the best we can with each day because if we do not give up, we will reap a rewarding harvest in the end! (Galatians 6:9)

The end is the full extent. He will complete in full what He began in us. We can have an earnest expectation that Jesus will FINISH to COMPLETION the desire He put in our hearts in the beginning! Jesus has everything necessary to make our life complete with nothing lacking!

He will complete the work He began!  We can be whole, undivided, and complete in every area of our life, physically, mentally, socially, and financially; if we believe, God will COMPLETE IN FULL to the end what He began.
