Stop Living Life Upside Down

Stop Living Life Upside Down

by Diana Scothorn

So many years of my life were completely upside down. My life was going in every direction but foreword! “Down” is an English expression that means things being inverted or in disorder. It means to be turned so that the upper surface, becomes the lower surface.

That is what the devil wants for each of our lives. He wants the things that God intended to be on top to be at the very bottom! Deuteronomy 28:13 says, “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.” That is God’s desire for our life!

The devil, however…

…perverts everything good that God desired for our lives to make us turn away from God’s directive. He wants our priorities out of order! We were never intended to be on the bottom. I have had to fight hard not to let the devil steal my life! It was a fight worth the battle! The devil wants to take all the things God has FREELY GIVEN us and make us Pay! He wants our lives to be filled with chaos and disorder.

When my life became out of control, to a point where I could not bear any more turmoil, I finally put my foot down and decided to stand firm on what God had promised to bring order in my life!

Order is an authoritative direction or mandate. The disorder comes when you have a breach of the order. It is a lack of order or a disturbance in the order. Satan’s full-time job is to get us to go against God’s Sovereign Authority to cause disturbance and disorder in our lives!

God’s Word brings order, peace, and balance. I experienced many painful years of my life that I lived beneath what God intended! I continually struggled with self-image, parenting as a single mother, and balancing work and family! I felt out of control, which produced even more pain.

Pain doesn’t mean we have to live under our circumstances. God‘s authority causes peace despite our circumstances! I tried desperately to “dress up” on the outside, so to speak so that no one would see the pain on the inside. God wants to come and address the pain on the inside so that everyone can see His love on the outside! God works from the inside out!

He brings peace on the inside to eliminate chaos on the outside! God’s Word brings order! His love brings comfort! If we allow God to do the work on the inside, the devil will have no access to throw us on our backside!
