The Key to Staying on the THM Plan During the Holidays

By Meggan Larson

November and December are some of the busiest months of the year for many people. The Christmas season is my absolute favorite time of year. I love it so much that I even run a non profit that secretly blesses struggling families in my community with gifts and dinner for Christmas. We drop everything off anonymously a few days before Christmas. I love doing this, I plan for it all year long and when it’s here it’s a lot of fun. It’s also very busy and if I don’t plan well, I will find myself starving and ready to eat anything and everything in sight.

The way that I avoid doing this is…

By ensuring that I have snacks on hand all the time. I have emergency quest bars in my purse, the superfood chews (THM cookbook page #383) are always ready in the fridge for me to grab and go, I usually have on plan muffins that I’ve made and frozen and can quickly grab a couple to bring with me to go shopping, or do picks ups or drop offs, etc. It’s really important to plan ahead and that can be as simple as just keeping some snacks in your purse because you already know that this is a busy time of year. You don’t want to find yourself super hungry in the middle of a crowded food court. Not only will everything you see look absolutely scrumptious, strangers everywhere will experience the “hangriness” that accompanies a very hungry woman with no on plan snacks in her purse.

My family and my team know when I’m too hungry which is embarrassing but also easily avoidable. For everyone’s sake let’s just plan to succeed by preparing some snacks ahead of time and keep the Christmas spirit alive instead of squashing it for everyone around you by letting yourself get too hungry.

Meggan Larson is a wife, mom of three, and challenge overcomer! Being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and undergoing aggressive chemotherapy when her second born child was only three months old, gave Meggan an expected twist to her life. Dealing with pregnancy weight gain and the debilitating effects of chemotherapy, Meggan’s weight soared to over 228 pounds. Feeling humiliated with no desire to socialize, Meggan was desperate for a change. Shortly after losing 20 pounds with the Trim Healthy Mama program, Meggan found out she was pregnant with baby number three, which ended in an emergency C-section and unexpected hysterectomy. Despite the challenges she faced, Meggan has just celebrated her one year “trimiversary”, and her success of releasing just over 60 pounds! Meggan is confident that her success on plan is “doable” for anyone looking to gain back their health and wanting to live a trim and healthy lifestyle!
