Smart Goals For The New Year

Smart Goals For The New Year

By Meggan Larson

New Year’s eve is only 5 days away! Have you started your list of new year’s resolutions yet? So many of us have consistently put “losing weight” on our list of goals for the year and likely we started out really really well. Gym memberships always soar through the roof in January and gyms are super crowded for several weeks. But after a few weeks, attendance starts to waiver and slow down and what’s left are the ones who are really dedicated to their goals. So what’s the difference between the ones who accomplish their goals and the ones who don’t?

Smart Goals For The New Year

My life coach Dani Johnson has always taught me that “nothing becomes specific until it becomes dynamic”. Essentially what that means is that if your goal is too vague then you’re not likely to achieve it. If you have a goal to simply “lose weight” in 2017 then you may as well not even write it down. I don’t mean to sound harsh but I’ve lived it again and again so I speak from experience. When you create a goal it needs to be specific! How much weight do you want to lose? When do you want to lose it by? If you want to lose 50lbs in the year then break that down even further to determine how much you need to lose each week to stay on track. When we make goals we need to also make a plan to achieve them. If we keep our goals vague then what we’re really telling ourselves deep down is that we don’t really believe we’re going to achieve them. When we make a solid plan, weigh ourselves weekly, and do what we need to do to reach our goals, THAT is when we are serious. Sit down this week and really work out a plan for what you want to accomplish in 2017. Whether it’s losing weight, paying off your debt, running a marathon, etc. Again, I started a very small accountability group last year and together we lost hundreds of pounds between 50 of us. I have about 10 spaces open right now but only for those of you who are serious about doing this. You’ve got to be at a place where enough is enough and you have GOT to make this work. Email me at Meggan@thelaundrymoms.com and tell me why you need to be in this group.Nothing becomes dynamic until it becomes specific so get specific! Set out your list of goals before new year’s eve and have a wonderful new year!

Being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and undergoing aggressive chemotherapy when her second born child was only three months old, gave Meggan an expected twist to her life. Dealing with pregnancy weight gain and the debilitating effects of chemotherapy, Meggan’s weight soared to over 228 pounds. Feeling humiliated with no desire to socialize, Meggan was desperate for a change. Shortly after losing 20 pounds with the Trim Healthy Mama program, Meggan found out she was pregnant with baby number three, which ended in an emergency C-section and unexpected hysterectomy. Despite the challenges she faced, Meggan has just celebrated her one year “trimiversary”, and her success of releasing just over 60 pounds! Meggan is confident that her success on plan is “doable” for anyone looking to gain back their health and wanting to live a trim and healthy lifestyle!
