Small Steps = Big Success
by Diana Scothorn
As we close out one year and enter another, we all strive to be a “new me”, but it’s so easy to become quickly discouraged just after a few weeks, as we fall back into old habits and settle for the “old me”!
I’ve learned that If I don’t have a clear vision of God’s plan and purpose for my life, I won’t have the determination required to keep pressing forward to fulfill my destiny!
I was raised in a middle-class family, with limited vision, limited resources, and no understanding of real relationship, Jesus, or the Bible! It wasn’t until I began to study the Bible myself, and learned that although I’m not able in my own strength or ability to turn my life around, I know I’m going to see dramatic results when I remember…
GOD IS ABLE!
We all have mountains that block our vision! The Bible says, in Luke 3:5…“Every valley shall be filled, every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth”.
GOD IS ABLE to bring our “mountains” crumbling, fill the void in our lives, and help us reach our destiny! I learned when I applied His principles, it became so much easier for me to achieve my goals.
Whatever we need…GOD IS ABLE!
GOD IS ABLE to supernaturally accelerate our life in order to align with His Kingdom purpose! GOD IS ABLE to change the velocity and move us in the direction of our life’s calling!
I struggled with weight, finances, and self-image for years, but when I realized GOD IS ABLE to supernaturally speed my destiny to be right back on track, is when God stepped in and showed me…He is able to do all that’s necessary to move me into my destiny He designed for me!
When I finally decided to take action and submit daily to little things, it prepared me to submit to bigger things, for me to move into what God had planned for my future, and He’ll do the same for you!
I just had to learn to take daily small steps of submission, to resist the temptation to quit! James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil, and he will flee”.
It was saying, no… to one cookie at a time, saying yes… to exercise one day at a time, and no… to overspending one dollar at a time.
I placed my confidence in God, not my ability! Romans 4:21 said, “Abraham was fully assured that what God had promised, He was able to perform.
There were 3 things Abraham did to receive God’s Promise.
- He did not consider his circumstances (He and Sara were old in age)
- He was convinced God would do what He promised.
- He did not waiver.
There was a time when my marriage, health, and finances all seemed hopeless, and I had to make the decision to not consider the circumstances. I had to be fully convinced, “Nothing is Impossible with God” (Luke 1:37) and GOD IS ABLE to do what was necessary in order for my circumstances to change, and I learned I could not waver on God’s Promises. Plus, I learned taking small daily steps of discipline was vital.
These 3 small steps help me stay on track each day…
- Having a set time to begin your day. ( at least every weekday morning.)
- Spending quiet time in the Bible first thing, asking God to help accomplish everything in the day.
- Working out each weekday morning first thing. (even if it is only 20 minutes.)
It’s important when we’re believing for a change we focus on one day at a time!!! Small daily disciplines lead to big long term results!
GOD is ABLE…if we are ready and willing!
When we come to the place where we realize God’s Provision is waiting on the other side of our obedience, we will be ready…and GOD IS ABLE…to change everything!
