Simple Steps to Process Change

Simple Steps to Process Change

by Diana Scothorn

I’ve learned getting my life in proper condition is a process.  A process is defined as when a series of changes take place in a definite manner.  Meaning when intentional changes are developed those changes will actually change our circumstances.

To see change, we must implement change. We have to recognize which habits are not healthy and which areas need to be developed, and our spiritual growth is a vital part of this process.

Sometimes the most challenging part of any process is…

…the waiting period. We’re to wait patiently on God, as we put our trust in Him to take us through the process.

We have to be committed if we’re going to remain faithful through the process! Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion on the day of Jesus Christ.”

When we put our trust in God, He’ll lovingly guide us through the process until our results appear. There’s absolutely nothing God can not accomplish when we allow Him to take us through the process!

I am all too familiar with the waiting period! I went through a process to find my true love, while God was lovingly trying to take my heart through a healing process to able to receive love!

We all have trials where we’re challenged. Your trial may be losing weight, which is also another area I’ve had to overcome. God will often have us go through a  process of loving ourselves on the inside before we go through a successful process of results manifested on the outside!

God works from the inside out! Ecclesiastes 8:6 states, “For there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, though a man’s trouble is heavy upon him.” When our heart is heavy, and we become discouraged, we want immediate gratification to relieve our heavy heart.

When our heart is in the right place, the process will begin to take root, because God is more interested in the condition of our hearts in order to receive lasting results! Like any process, there are steps required, and removing ourselves from the process before the process is complete will not end favorably.

Any woman who’s colored or bleached her hair knows there’s a processing time. Salon experts will tell you that the biggest mistakes made are not following the instructions, skipping steps, trying to bleach your own hair, forgetting to deep condition, and over-processing.

Likewise, God has a similar process…

  1. We must read our bible for instruction.
  2. Do not skip days of communication with God.
  3. Do not try and reach our desired goals on our own.
  4. Allow God to go into the deep places of our hearts and heal our hidden pain.
  5. Do not over-analyze the process.

Our only responsibility is to trust God during the process!  Whether we’re believing God to lose unwanted pounds, restore our marriage, heal our bodies, or give us financial security, it’s a  process!

It’s inevitable; we’ll always be GOING through something, COMING out of something, or WAITING on something!  We might as well trust God and enjoy the journey through the PROCESS!
