Should You Buy the New THM Books?

Everyone is talking about the two new books that just came out this passed week. The first is the “Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook: Eat Up and Slim Down with More Than 350 Healthy Recipes” and the second is the “Trim Healthy Mama Plan: The Easy-Does-It Approach to Vibrant Health and a Slim Waistline”. There has been much excitement over these new books and also some criticism so I’ll give it to you straight (don’t I always?).


Should you buy the cookbook? In a word…


– yes. Unless of course you don’t want over 300 new recipes written out like actual recipes (with amounts and directions and pictures, oh my!). These recipes look incredibly scrumptious, most are super easy, and did I mention how amazing they look? There has been some criticism that most of the recipes require the THM products and that this is all just an evil ploy to make you buy the official THM product line. You’re allowed to feel that way if you want to… but that’s simply not the case here. Out of over 350 recipes, there are a mere 50 something recipes that call for baking blend. I would hardly say that’s most of the recipes. Besides, there are other baking blends floating around the web if you really feel that $7.99 for baking blend is too much. There are Briana Thomas’ baking mix and Raye Ann’s baking mix .


Yes, the recipes call for some other new products that have just come out like the mineral salt (only $4.99!) and the integral collagen but honestly these products are not essential to most of the recipes and the sisters wrote an entire blurb in the cookbook about how you can save money and how you don’t need their entire product line. I understand if you are not at a place where you can afford everything yet but, if you’re all in for your health and weight loss then I would order everything as soon as possible. You don’t have to buy every single ingredient now, in fact, there are plenty of recipes that don’t have any special ingredients at all! Trying to do this without the proper tools is going to hinder your success though, and let’s be honest, we’ve spent more on off plan “treats” in a year than the entire product line costs anyway. At least I have in the past!


Should you buy the second book if you already own the first? Again, it’s not essential BUT I would (and did!). The core information is the same however, the new book is more condensed, a little less chatty, and includes several menu plans (even vegetarian ones!), extra info for pregnant and nursing mamas, and some tips for men as well. As the authors have continued on their trim healthy journey, they’ve obviously learned even more tips and tricks and share that in this new book. It’s an excellent addition to the plan that you already know and love.


One last thing – I wouldn’t get rid of your old book! The recipes in the old book are not all in the new one so you may be missing out on some of your favorite recipes if you give away your old copy. I’ve also found that getting the new books has reawakened an excitement within me about Trim Healthy Mama. I hadn’t realized that I was no longer excited until I got the new books in the mail and couldn’t wait to try out the new recipes. If you’ve been feeling a little blah about the plan this may be exactly what you need to get motivated again!
