Reverse Engineer Your Vision

Reverse Engineer Your Vision

by Drenda Keesee

Vision is key!

So how do you make this happen? First, write the vision by seeing the desired end, and then develop the pathway to get there.

Make a pathway that leads to your dream! Life is like a pathway with people trying to steer you throughout your journey to go where the masses go, to do what everyone else is doing in education, family, finances, food, fashion, and fun. There are those who are trying to capture your finances, your family, your time, and your influence. They have devised well-planned businesses to extract these things from you. They are getting you to hand over your power by luring you through your feelings. They use great enticements to create feelings that make you spend, make you want, make you lust. You spend; they cash in.

Meanwhile…

…the schools are training your children to think and live by their moral code, which is sorely lacking in absolutes.

Make a written plan so you are not put on their pathway. Make your own pathway with God’s direction and walk it out. The pathway is a plan. You were created to live by design, not by default! Start to plan instead of being one of the easily led masses that don’t think or plan for their life.

If you have children at home, explore how your family can be a part of your pathway. How do you incorporate them? Mentor them for success? Apprentice them in biblical success principles, habits, and train them? I believe your business can be one of the best places. You may not be able to have a corporate job and take the kids to work, but you can build your own corporation with your family alongside.

There was a single woman in the Scriptures whose husband died and left her with a huge debt. The creditors were going to take her sons in exchange for the debt! It’s what they did back then.

But how is it much different today, if we let debt take parents from their children, who are working and slaving to pay back creditors? This woman sought God for answers by going to Elisha the prophet (2 Kings 4). The prophet told her to gather pots and “not a few.” In other words, go into a big vision for your business!

She and her sons gathered the pots and began to pour the oil they had into the pots. God multiplied their efforts, and the oil didn’t run out until all the pots were filled. She sold the oil, paying off her debt. The first recorded female entrepreneur started out as a broke, single mom, but became a mompreneur. I celebrate how God will fill the family business with His blessing as we expand our thinking and gather a harvest financially where He instructs us.

Through their own life experiences, the Keesee’s have found the principles from God’s Word to be powerful and effective. At one point, Drenda was a young, suicidal feminist with no hope of ever being “good enough” for her own standards of perfection. She never wanted the “inconvenience” of a husband or children, and she was on her own path to success. But the stress of trying to achieve perfection and perform for love left her broken and used. She had success, but it was nothing compared to the pain and loneliness it had also brought.

That’s when God got a hold of her heart. It was there—at her lowest point—that she found the One who accepted and loved her, faults and all. Since that transformation, Drenda has had a passion to reach women who find themselves where she once was.

She married Gary after attending college, and there she found herself in a personal boot camp of sorts. She says, “I cried and told God, ‘I can do anything but be a wife and mother.’” She committed to learning how to do it God’s way. Through the many years of raising their children and struggling to make ends meet, Drenda learned from their mistakes. “I didn’t know how to be a wife and mother, but God saved our marriage, taught us how to parent our children for success, showed us how to have financial success, and then the irony of all ironies, He called us to ministry.” It’s truly because of these life experiences that Drenda can now share so many insightful principles for people who are now going through the same struggles.

Gary and Drenda pastor Faith Life Church at The Now Center in New Albany, Ohio, and also are the CEOs of Forward Financial Group.
