“Reflection”

by Kali Gillespie

The end of the year draws to a close, and reflection is on my mind. And as exciting as it is to look forward with anticipation, I’ve been reminded to take time to look back. And to seek out the good news.

I know that niggling temptation that is at hand for us Moms (all of us, really…) to have our attention drawn to the shortcomings.

I am challenging myself to look only to…

Reflection5…the good. To celebrate the wonderful, beautiful, true, and right. And the situations where we see the hand of God in it all, even when at the time it may have felt difficult or messy.

A twinkle in the eye means joy in the heart,
and good news makes you feel fit as a fiddle. (Prov 15:30 The Message)

Isn’t this a great translation of a great promise?!

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Phil 4:8-9)

Spend some time this weekend writing down, focusing on and then CELEBRATING the good reports. Decide to seek out the treasure: the good that God has done in your life, the times that He met you exactly where you were at. Call to mind the breakthroughs in your children’s lives, along with the trials endured where valuable lessons were learned.

And get ready to receive the promises He gives in His word…joy and peace!

Share your good news with us! We’d love to delight with one another as we recall the good reports!
