Preparing for Your Destiny
by Diana Scothorn
I have learned it is my job to prepare; it’s the Lord’s to deliver! In the Bible, Proverbs 21:31 says, “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the deliverance is of the LORD.” It simply means we are to do all we know to prepare for what we are believing, and Lord will do the rest! If we are believing to buy our dream home, lose unwanted pounds, or have a beautiful relationship, our part is to prepare!
When I decided to lose weight and get in better shape, I had to…
…prepare for a different mindset! I had to prepare to go to social events and say no thank you to fabulous delicacies and desserts. I had to prepare to get up earlier to work out, as well as drink more water and smaller portions! I had to prepare my heart that my decision would become a lifestyle, and it would be a long-term commitment. I would have failed had I not prepared mentally!
When I was believing God for my husband, my job was to prepare my heart for who the Lord had prepared for me. My job was not to find Him, but to prepare my heart for him! I studied the Word on God’s faithfulness, provision, and deep love for me. If I filled my spirit up with God’s faithful provision and love for my life, I was not only believing but expecting my husband to show up and manifest in my life!
I put the Word in my heart and waited with an expectant heart for God to deliver my husband in my life! We do our part, and God does His. We can not do God’s part, but God will not do our part! Our role is to prepare!
The most important thing we can do is prepare our hearts. We have to know deep down that God’s timing is perfect. If the Lord had brought my husband to me before I was prepared in my heart, I would not have been ready to receive him. We will not appreciate any “gift” we are not ready to receive.
I had to be at a point not only to receive love but honestly believe I could trust someone to love me!
My inability to trust would have destroyed the very love the Lord would have sent me. We prepare our hearts by first trusting God with our hearts. It is only through receiving His Love; we’re able to receive another’s love.
Our affirmation has to first come from the Lord before we are able to receive or love another. Anything we believe for, we must prepare before the Lord delivers! Preparation will set in motion God’s timing on His deliverance!
When I believed God for my first home, I first bought my land. I could see the home I was believing for in my heart, but I prepared first by purchasing my land, so I could build the home without having to compromise all the extras I wanted in my home.
It took me two years to pay off my land, and then the Lord delivered the perfect contractor and the finances needed for me to build the exact home that was in my heart! Preparation begins in our hearts. Getting in a hurry and wanting something now, before the prepared and appointed time, will cause us to have less than God’s best!
Two years earlier, I was not ready financially for the beautiful home, but I was preparing in advance for what I was believing God to bring to pass. Had I built a home prematurely, I would have had a home, but not the home I wanted! I would have compromised to have it now.
God has prepared each of our destinies! When we prepare our hearts to believe, we can confidently rest assured that God is faithful to deliver all He has prepared!
