Prep For Success

Prep For Success
by Meggan Larson

I’ve been doing the Trim Healthy Mama plan for 4 & ½ years now (on and off) and one of the biggest complaints I have (and have heard) is all the prep work that goes into the food. Let’s just be real here. Sometimes it feels like it can take HOURS upon hours to get meals and snacks ready especially when you come from the background of having a shrimp ring and microwave popcorn for dinner because it’s fast and easy (you know, just as an example…). When it comes to meal prep or snack prep someone with my personality type definitely tends to go towards what’s easiest and fastest and takes the least amount of effort.

I have come to realize something though…

Prep For Success

I had to start upping my adulting game. Sure it takes extra effort to prepare for meals and snacks but isn’t it worth it? Often times I tend to make it so much worse in my head than it actually is. Last week when we got home from doing groceries I took all of the fruit and vegetables we bought and I washed them with all my natural plant based fruit and veggie soak (if you’ve never tried this you really should. It’s absolutely amazing and disgusting what comes off your produce and it lasts in my fridge for twice as long).

I chopped up all my veggies and put them in airtight containers and I chopped up the fruit I could like the strawberries and put those in containers too. Everything is washed and ready to eat so all week I’ve just had to grab and go. It took me a good hour to prep everything but it’s made my week so much easier and since it’s just as easy to grab a small bowl of cut strawberries and a piece of cheese as some ice cream, I’m actually more likely to go for the fruit because…

a.) it’s delicious, and

b.) I do actually want to be healthier!

I find it challenging when I’m feeling lazy and uninspired but part of that is due to having extra weight. Sometimes we just need to push through the laziness and get it done so that we can feel better about ourselves not only physically but emotionally too.
