Open Doors
by Diana Scothorn
It’s a New Year and all things are possible with God! Regardless of the past, God can open new doors, and also open those doors no man can shut! The most unexpected and memorable events which have taken place in my life were God-ordained doors He provided for me to walk through. God opened the door to meet my husband, incorporate my business, begin our ministry, as well as our financial success!
If you want to enter through a door, typically, you would…
…knock first and wait for someone to open it. Matthew 7:7 tells us, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” There have been many occasions I would pray about a situation, and in desperation to get what I prayed for, I would knock the door down before I knew if God was on the other side.
After desperately wanting to find love after a devastating time in my life of betrayal and tragedy in my family, I would pray the Lord would send me a Godly mate to one day be my husband. So many times I would know early on in my spirit, the person I was dating was not the man however, I would continue to justify how he possibly could be or might even one day change.
When we know something is not right, it’s a door God is not opening. Sometimes I’ve been fearful of walking through a door, and other times I have charged through head-on, uninvited by God! I have learned that the key is to knock on the door, not knock the door down!
Fear of not getting the results we want is a master tactic of Satan to keep us from knocking and waiting on God to open it. In desperation, I’ve prayed and knocked, and when the door didn’t open right away, I PUSHED MY WAY IN!
Here are 3 practical steps which have helped me to walk through the right doors.
- Pray
- Ask God if the timing is right?
- Wait for peace in my spirit.
Through painful experience, I’ve gained the wisdom to know when the door doesn’t open; God has a reason; it’s to protect us! It could be the wrong time, wrong place, or perhaps the wrong person, but if the door is right, God will confirm it by standing at the door to greet you!
When I was forming my corporation in January of 2007, we were in three states and barely on the map in our industry. The entire year I confessed it would be a year of God’s favor like never before, and doors would be opened, no man can open or shut! Truly every day of 2007, I made this confession.
In Oct of 2007, a door was opened ten months after forming the corporation, which put us competing with all the big players in the industry! In the next three months, we acquired over 500 clients and grossed more in 3 months than the entire year.
Within the next few months, we expanded into twelve states! We should have never, in the natural circumstances, had this opportunity, BUT GOD opened the door.
When God opens a door, His favor ushers you in, and today our marketplace ministry is in 50 States, and we have over 20,000 clients and the original door which was opened is still a REVOLVING DOOR of new clients. We give God all the glory!
When we begin to recognize God alone is our Source and trust Him for provision in every area of our life, we see doors fly open causing us to enter in and launch the next season of our lives!
