My family is one big stain. My kids wake up in the morning and promptly start pouring their cereal on their shirts. Then they move to the schoolroom for arts and crafts where the markers make as many beautiful designs on their clothing as on the paper.
And let’s not forget outside playtime!
Need I even explain this one? Mud, grass stains, dirt and sidewalk chalk make a nice layer of guck on my kids’ clothes.
This much activity makes laundry all the more interesting.
I used to pick and choose which clothing items were worth saving and I would soak the lucky winners with Shout stain remover and throw them in the washer with a prayer…
Until I ran across this WONDERFUL HOME MADE stain-treater at http://www.mykitchenescapades.com/
I was SO EXCITED to FINALLY have a solution I could afford to SOAK all of our clothes in that I made a bucket full! Now instead of picking lucky winners to salvage, all clothes are treated equally (no pun intended) and everyone is a winner. Enjoy!
Homemade Shout Pre-treater
(Makes about 30 fl oz)
2/3 C Dawn dish detergent
2/3 C ammonia
6 Tb baking soda
2 C warm water
1. Mix together all the ingredients in a medium bowl. Using a funnel, pour into an old Shout bottle or other spray bottle.
2. To use, shake the bottle well because the baking soda does settle to the bottom. Spray as you normally would on a stain then launder. Do not use on anything that will be washed with chlorine bleach due to the ammonia
