Must Have Mom Oils-(part 2)

Must-Have Mom Oils-(part 2)

by Terri Bonin

I hope you enjoyed the first article on “5 Essential Oils” every mom should have on hand when caring for their family. While listing those five oils it occurred to me that there are actually more I would advise a mom to have on hand.  In my opinion, these are “must-haves” like the first five oils.  So without further delay, Here is the continuation of the list of essential oils or blends that every mom should have in their arsenal…

Peace and Calming

For every mom, peace and calm are rare and valuable commodities. While Peace and Calming may not solve all your household chaos problems, it can help. For small children, topically applying Peace and Calming can help quiet them when they are fussy. Parenting is stressful work, and if you ever actually get the rare opportunity to take a bath; adding Peace and Calming can help de-stress after a long day. We all need help in staying calm, and this essential oil can help you do just that. Having trouble sleeping? Putting a little Peace and Calming on your pillowcase might be exactly what you need.  For our more experienced moms, massaging Peace and Calming onto the reflex points of sore muscles can help alleviate the stress.

Lavender

A classic oil, lavender can help every mom out. Does your teenager struggle with skin issues? Try some lavender.  Lavender can also be added to your laundry or household, to keep everything smelling fresh and clean for your family. If you like to cook (like many moms), you’ve undoubtedly experienced a burn from hot grease. You’re just cooking some chicken and then POP, a tiny bit of grease gets on your arm. Applying some lavender to this can help with the pain and discomfort.  Headaches are all too common a problem and applying lavender can help with this as well.  Sunburns and other skin irritations… reach for lavender.

Tea tree

Also known as melaleuca oil, this oil is native to Australia and highly useful.  All our toothbrushes are susceptible to germs. Dropping a bit of tea tree oil onto the brush can clean it of these impurities. Tea Tree oil is great for fungal-type issues.  I like to rub it on my toes along with Purification after having a pedicure.  Just in case, my precious toes come into contact with any unfriendly pests during the process.  We all like our laundry fresh and a few drops of tea tree gets the job done as well. While all these benefits are great, it’s important to remember that tea tree should not be ingested internally and only used topically or aromatically.

Frankincense

Another oil we’ve written about before, but its benefits definitely earn a place on this list. This ancient oil is known as the “king of all oils”.  It’s been known to help with clarity and focus, help skin inflammation and rashes, and boost immunity. Many people will combine this oil with other oils for an extra one-two punch against other problems.  A friend of mine takes this internally at the first sign of a feverish feeling.

Deep Relief

Finally, we have Deep Relief. This is another oil not to ingest internally. The name is pretty self-explanatory. This oil provides relief for sore muscles after working hard, alleviates stress, and assists in inflammation.  We moms can really push our bodies and this blend is the perfect one to apply at the end of a long day!
