“Living Without Limits”

“Living Without Limits”

by Hannah Keeley

My daughters, Kelsey and Katie, once planted a few tomato seeds in an old plastic bakery box that I had saved. I didn’t think much about it until the day when I noticed that they had grown so much that they had actually grown smack out of the box! I was then left with no choice but to get out one of my pots from outside and transplant those tomatoes.

It reminded me of how so many of us…without_limits5

…limit ourselves in life. You may be looking around you thinking, “well, this is as good as it gets.” You are seeing the limits, not the possibilities. If those tomato plants had a human thought in their heads, they would have thought, “well, this is as big as this plastic box gets, so I guess I had better stop trying to grow. I should just settle in and get comfortable.”

But, no! Those tomato plants are just living their essence. They are going with the nature that God has instilled in them. Even though the plastic box stops them short, they just keep growing. They know it is their destiny to grow and they keep doing it. Pretty soon, they find a way around, under, or through whatever is limiting them. They grow and expand to fulfill their God-given destiny, which is to produce tomatoes. They could never do that if they were content to just remain little seedlings.

Are you looking at your limits today? Or are you focused on your possibilities? God has breathed a destiny into your spirit. You were created for abundance, joy, growth, and prosperity. But you can miss out on this life if you stop growing and believing. Our limitless God can only be limited by one thing–your belief. When Jesus returned to Nazareth during his ministry, the people there did not believe in his power and authority. Scripture tells us that “because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them” (Mark 6:5). It goes on to say that he was “amazed at their unbelief.”

Can you believe that? It doesn’t say that Jesus would not do miracles. It says he could not do miracles. We can actually limit God! He breathed a nature into your spirit that is expansive, abundant, and productive. But unless you can believe that, and get into agreement with the destiny that God placed within you, you will not be able to experience this type of life.

Even when the plastic box closed in around those little tomato plants, they kept growing. They knew that pretty soon they were going to be enjoying a life in a big, roomy pot; and they would be able to produce ripe, juicy tomatoes! That is their destiny. All you have to do is agree with God that He created you for more and keep growing. Let him take care of your surroundings and your circumstances. He did not plan for you to remain a seedling all your life. This is your time to grow and push through those limits you have placed on your life.

hannah_keeleyHannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
