Listening for God’s Voice
by Diana Scothorn
I have been walking with the Lord (spending time with God in His Word and living it) since I was twenty years old. Spending consistent time with God has caused me to become bold in my faith! 1 Timothy 1:7-8 says, God fills us with the Holy Spirit, who is bold and courageous. Boldness is contagious!!!!
When we’re bold for Christ, enduring hardships for our faith, others are provoked to do the same (Philippians 1:14). Boldness will cause a spirit of fearlessness! In the face of trepidation, you rise to the occasion with courage!!!!
Boldness will cause you to…
…act without hesitation! It gives you the courage to face tomorrow, knowing Jesus is by your side. The more time I spend with Jesus, the bolder I become! The love of God becomes who you are, not who you talk about.
I’ve come to realize, Jesus is perfect in all His ways, so it pays to do as He instructs and quickly obey! That still small whisper of the Holy Spirit will lead us to Victory! Whispers of, don’t eat that, go exercise, get more rest, ask to be forgiven, tell them about Jesus! You don’t have to receive a monumental word to have a fulfilled life! It only takes obedience. His love will lead us to victory!
When our hearts are aligned with God in faith, our life will demonstrate His great love! Isaiah 65:24 says, “Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.” We will pray with boldness, expecting our prayers to be answered!
Jesus will cause the Blessing of God to operate over, and through, and your life! The blessings in anyone’s life become a bright light that will draw attention. That’s God’s plan! We’re to attract those in darkness, to come closer to the light! What we do with the “light” is a responsibility He’s entrusted to us.
Matthew 5:12-15 states, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. We are not “The Light,” but the lamp-stand that holds the light!
The Word says if you draw closer to God, then He will draw closer to you. The Light of God should shine so brightly; it draws attention. The more time we spend closely listening to God, the bolder we become to share His great love! If God draws attention to your life and people come closer to see, it’s most important they see Jesus in the center of it all!
