Let’s face it. None of us are really too fond of change. We may feel like we want change to happen, but there’s always a part of us that likes to stay in the comfort zone, even when that zone is anything but comfortable! And sometimes, in order to avoid change, we hold on to things that just aren’t working anymore. It could be items (do you really need that hot pink blazer you never wear?) or ideas (my kids aren’t old enough to assume responsibility around the house). Eventually, these things grow old and useless…but we still hang on.
Get objective! Step outside yourself and look at your behaviors and surroundings. God often tries to push us to new levels, but we have so much old clutter (in our hearts and homes), that we’re just stuck. You need to take a good, hard look at your life and see if it’s time to let some things go.
Your home–Is it time to do some serious spring cleaning? Do you need to let go of some items so you can experience renewed energy in your home?
Your marriage–Perhaps you went through a rough patch. Are you still holding on to bitterness and hurt? Let go of that junk and make room for a refreshment of romance.
Your parenting–Kids grow up, but sometimes our parenting doesn’t grow with them. Maybe it’s time to take a good look at your kids and see if you need to lighten up a bit.
These are just a few examples. But I’m sure there is a place in your life where you need to let something go–and not go pick it back up!! How do I know this? Because God is always moving us up higher and higher. And you can’t bring old junk along with you.
Watch the video and leave a comment. Let me know where God is pushing you and where you need to let go. Plus, you get to find out what totally grossed me out the other day about a waffle and my son!! (eeeewww!)
Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
