Keep Your Vision In Front Of You
By Meggan Larson
Recently I started reading the book “Dream it. Pin it. Live it“: Make Vision Boards Work For You by Terri Savelle Foy. I’ll be honest, when I first got the book I rolled my eyes internally because I haven’t made a vision board since I was maybe 12. I agreed to read it because a close friend of mine gave it to me, I really respect her, and she’s not one to recommend junk. So for all of those reasons I took the book seriously and have been doing the recommended activities and no one is more surprised about the results than I am…
One of the main things we’ve been doing is writing out a list of our top ten goals that we want to accomplish within the next six to eighteen months. We write this list out every day for thirty days but we don’t look back at any of the lists we wrote previously so that at the end of thirty days we can see what’s really important to us.
The reason for writing out your top goals everyday is to get you focused on them. How many of us have had weeks or months go by and we’ve completely forgotten about the things we wanted to accomplish? I know I have. This month I’ve accomplished goals that I know I wouldn’t have otherwise just by keeping them in front of my face.
I’ve lost several inches off my body just by writing down what goal weight I want to get to and by what date. Every morning I’m reminded of my goal to get down to that weight and so I find myself making much better choices, exercising more, and realizing that the best way to get to my goal weight is not by snacking on junk at 11pm.
I’ve always known that but somehow seeing my goals in front of my face every day has really reinforced that. No longer am I going to let days turn into weeks, months, and years without accomplishing the deep desires of my heart. And neither should you! I challenge you to write down your goals, whatever they may be, and look at them daily. Read them out loud, put them in a place you’ll see them often, and remind yourself what it is you’ve set out to achieve. Most of your weight loss battle is mental so give yourself the head start you need every morning and focus on what you want to achieve instead of letting your day get passed you. And if you’ve never read the book I talked about, much to my surprise I highly recommend it.
