Keep That Momentum Up

Keep That Momentum Up

by Hannah Keeley

One thing that most moms are lacking is momentum. It works like magic! If you have momentum, you can finish more projects, make more money, keep a cleaner home, and basically, make the impossible, possible! So how do we get this magical gift? How can we get and keep momentum because, heaven knows, we all need it!

Find out here…

Set a limit to a task. If you keep on staring at the huge wall in front of you, you’ll never tear down that first brick. Momentum works wonders at tackling the big projects, but the trick is to tackle it one little bit at a time. If you are dragging your feet over cleaning out a closet then just start by de-cluttering the shoes. Chances are once you dig in to the small task in front of you you will get the momentum flowing and working in your favor and before you know it the entire closet will be done. Break those big projects down into smaller chunks so that you can actually make some progress and quit putting them off.

Start where you are with what you have. Here’s the deal, if you’re waiting for the right time and the right tools, then you’ll be waiting forever. Moms never have the time to do projects or tasks because so much of their time demands are scattered throughout the day. Just start somewhere, who cares where that place is? The only enemy of momentum is procrastination so don’t let it win the war. The starting point of success isn’t a place, it’s an action. Just do it!

Put a voice to it. You can play mind games all day long. But if you want to get momentum happening, you’re going to have to call it into action. Go ahead and talk it up. Make your decisions verbal. If you’re putting off cleaning the kitchen then just say outloud, “Enough of this! I love ME enough to give myself a clean kitchen and I’m going to do it right NOW!” Chances are, the action will follow because you’ve called it into reality. Great successes go from thought to word to action. Don’t try to skip out on the “word” part because that’s a great way to get momentum.

Get a cause. Maybe you need a better reason than just “I need to de-clutter” or “I need to make dinner.” Give your actions more purpose and then you can get the momentum going. Instead of just de-cluttering, decide that you are going to help out a charity with a donation. Instead of making dinner, decide that you are going to fuel some healthy bodies and make a family memory. When you look at the real effects of all that you do around your home, you’ll be a lot more inspired to take action.

Imagine evolution, not escape. So many people want to escape their situations. What they don’t realize is that we all just evolve through them. How can we ever get to that 3000 square foot home if we can’t successfully manage 1400 square feet? How can we ever work with a personal trainer at a gym if we don’t even have the gumption to go on a daily walk? The small steps build the bigger ones and until we master where we are, we will never get to where we want to be. Get excited about the tasks before you because you know deep inside where they are leading you. We’re all in training. It never stops. But once you get the right vision, momentum will help get you there.

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
