It’s Time To Purge

It’s Time To Purge

By Meggan Larson

If you’re anything like me, you have a lot of clothing. I mean, a LOT of clothing. And it’s not because you’re a shopaholic by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, most of those clothes you probably got for free by having them passed on to you. The real issue is all of the different sizes. I am not exaggerating I must have 10 different sizes of clothing in my closest and drawers. They are bursting from every corner of my room and the reason for it is so that I don’t have to go and buy more clothing as I continue losing more weight.

You know what though?…

It's Time To Purge

It’s not worth the savings. The heaviness that comes from having that many articles of clothing around is not worth keeping them! Everywhere I look is another outfit that either fits me now or is too small but I’ll fit into at some point this year. There isn’t enough room in my closet to hang everything up so I have boxes piled underneath of clothing I’ll fit into. My drawers are crammed so full that I can barely open them at times. And you know what? I only wear a max of like three pairs of pants per week, a couple of shirts, and something nice on Sundays. I don’t even need all of those things!

I’ve made a big decision this week. I am getting rid of everything that doesn’t fit me right this second. I am going to pass it on to someone in my local buy nothing group (if you haven’t heard of “Buy Nothing” look it up on facebook to see if your city has one. It is AWESOME!). The fact is, I’ve had so many things passed on to me and I know that there is a woman in my neighborhood who would fit into those clothes NOW and would appreciate them instead of me hoarding all of those pieces of clothing in my closet. When I need new clothes, I’ll ask for them or go to the local thrift store.

I’m looking forward to the freedom I know I’ll experience when I can walk into my room and not be overwhelmed at the sight of all those clothes. If you’ve been a hoarder like me, why don’t you join me on this purge? I’d love some company.
