It’s Not The End

It’s Not The End

by Diana Scothorn

I have messed up, gone in the wrong direction, made terrible decisions, and said the wrong thing, but with God, it’s never the end!

Isaiah 46:9-says, “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.”

When we make a mistake, it can be painful. However, when we make the same mistake a second time, it’s regretful.  Unfortunately, that describes me in my previous years of marriage. Pain and regret tend to lead us in our minds to the end.

I’ve gone through things in my life that I was confident were the “END of the road” for me. When you’re 40 years old, both kids are off to college, and you have just built your dream home, then surprise, the marriage is over, you feel the pain of…

…it’s over, and like it’s a “dead end.”

I’ve learned the times I felt were “the end”, turned out to be the beginning because God has a better plan than we see, and there is never an end to His plan.

Isaiah 49:10 brings me hope. It says, “Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”

With God, everything is in His time and His way, but His plan stands forever! That is a truth that can not be denied. Our spiritual growth is always the center of His plan. He will use our disappointment to let our hurt be exposed, so He can mend the broken places to make our lives whole again.

Anytime I’ve gone through any significant turn in my life that ended in pain, it was the beginning of healing.

Pain results in change, whether we like it or not. If we allow God to take us through the process, we’ll become more assertive on the other side.

Change is never easy. However, the process of change is essential if we want to continue to grow in the Lord. When we release our old mindset, it results in new beginnings, every time without fail.

Through any change, I’ve learned to embrace God and take Him at His Word. I’m never disappointed with the outcome when I endure the process. I always come out better on the other side.

The word “end”  rings in our ears as a death sentence pronounced over our life. When I felt nothing was left in me, God demonstrated He was not through with me yet.

Looking back, I learned God is Sovereign, and His purpose for our life exceeds our ability to see our pain as part of our story to lead others to wholeness.

The devil has a plan to make us think it’s “over,” but God has a more excellent plan with new beginnings that stand and remains forever.

Each new day is a new day! When we accept the day as a new day, we will begin to see things in a new way!

It’s never over with God. He is eternal! I’ve found the only thing that needs to come to an end is my limited thinking, that I can never begin again.’’

Remember… It’s not over; it’s just about to begin!
