It’s Beginning to Smell a Lot Like Christmas
by Ashley Knight
It’s the week after Thanksgiving and suddenly it’s like the world has exploded with red and green. The holiday season is in full swing and the radio is now playing nonstop Christmas music. For some of us, this is a much celebrated time of year filled with joy, parties, gifts and glitter. But for many others it can be bittersweet, and even sad, as we think about loved ones who’ve passed away, family struggles or financial challenges. I think it’s so important to remember the struggles of others even if we aren’t experiencing the same ones ourselves. For me, this season has become more beautiful as a parent. I reflect on childhood memories and love seeing my girls’ sparkly eyes as they see the lights, learn about Jesus’ birth and pick out a Christmas tree. However a part of me is a little sad as…
…I miss my family who isn’t here to celebrate. Our senses play an important role in our memories and for me smell has an especially strong connection to memories. The Christmas season has it’s own definite smell and just one whiff brings back so many memories. The Christmas Spirit™ essential oil blend is like loads and loads of potpourri all wrapped up in one small bottle of oil. Just a few drops in a diffuser or on your hands and you’re transported to the magical season of Christmas.
Young Living’s Christmas Spirit™ essential oil blend is a refreshing blend of Cinnamon, Orange and Spruce. When added to a diffuser, it quickly fills the whole space with the smell of the holidays. When I was growing up, my mom loved potpourri…it was everywhere. That’s probably why this smell is so linked to the holidays for me. But now with my natural, healthy lifestyle I wonder, what actually goes into that potpourri or holiday candles? I don’t want to be a cynic but it’s probably some nasty chemicals. This is one more reason why I love my diffuser. I can put Christmas Spirit ™ in it and it fills the whole space without worrying about chemicals. The added bonus is that it cleans the air too! This blend contains powerful antiviral and antiseptic oils that are nourishing and soothing to our bodies.
As we face the harder memories of Christmas or current challenges, the uplifting aroma of Christmas Spirit™ can help to elevate our moods. Let’s break down the blend and discuss each oil’s benefits. Orange oil may help to bring a sense of peace and happiness. Cinnamon bark is a purifier, antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral so it’s doing the heavy lifting of cleaning the air around you. Finally, spruce is warming, healing and soothing. Together they are a potent combination for relaxation.
I love this charming testimony. It makes me giddy thinking of this sweet child.
“Christmas Spirit is my favorite blend, containing Cinnamon, Orange and Spruce. Inhaling it makes me smile and think of Christmas or a walk in the woods. I use it all year long. I put it in a spritzer bottle and it freshens the air, even in a smoky environment. It is just delightful and I have found that children especially love it. One little girl I know sighs and falls backwards on the couch in pure bliss after experiencing its wonderful scent!”

Last week we talked about Stress Away™ and how it can be used to calm your environment for the holidays. Although Stress Away ™ is wonderful, Christmas Spirit™ smells like this very special season and is also calming and soothing. Personally, I’ll be diffusing them both heavily this year. I hope when our daughters are grown, they will smell the Christmas Spirit ™ essential oil blend and it will bring back many happy, joyful memories of our Christmases together.
