How is your gut doing? Or maybe a better question is, how do you even know how your gut is doing? Gut health is so important to our overall health and wellness but so often it goes ignored because we just don’t know how to identify if there’s a problem or how to fix it if there is one! Some of the ways to tell if there’s an issue in your gut are symptoms like: bloating or gas, sugar cravings, bad breath, food allergies or sensitivities, anxiety, eczema, autoimmune issues, etc. Crazy how so many symptoms we face daily can be linked to our gut! Thankfully you can take steps to begin to heal the issues.

Steps like…

Improving your diet. Eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, basically, foods that are “alive”, can help improve your gut function. Fermented foods like kombucha, kefir, etc. are also a great way to heal the gut. Cutting out artificial sweeteners like aspartame and all sugar will absolutely change your gut function. Aspartame is basically poison so the less you consume, the better.

Eating more whole grains can help as they contain non-digestible carbs that can promote the growth of beneficial bacteria within the gut microbiota. These changes to the gut flora may improve certain aspects of metabolic health. Consuming things that are high in polyphenols is also really helpful. Things like dark chocolate, blueberries, and essential oils are high in polyphenols. They can really reduce inflammation in the body!
