How to Make Good Vacation Choices

How to Make Good Vacation Choices

By Meggan Larson

I was in Jamaica last week and it was EPIC! The views were absolutely gorgeous. The people were so kind. And the food, oh the food, was delicious! I did not want to come back feeling disgusting and bloated and having gained a ton of weight so I went into the week with a plan.

Here’s what I did…

I planned to stay on track for 80% of the week. I didn’t want to feel like I couldn’t have something if I really wanted it (they have an ice cream parlor, I mean come on!) but I also didn’t want the week to be a free for all ya know? So I filled up on veggies as often as possible and stuck to yummy proteins. I avoided the bread as much as possible and when it came to drinks I stuck to water or tonic and brought liquid stevia. I also brought swerve for my morning coffee.

I was prepared y’all! I know how it feels to eat like a pig and get home feeling further away from my goals than ever. I just didn’t want to do that to myself this time. 2020 is special to me for some reason, I can just feel it. That’s why I decided to treat my body kindly, rest as often as possible, and eat well. It truly is our choice whether we are careful about what we eat or not. I can tell you this much, I didn’t feel deprived at all during my trip!

It’s not always easy to make the best decisions for our health but oh my goodness when you do it feels amazing! I know it did for me. Besides, I was too busy enjoying the sparkling water, sleeping on the beach, and catching up on all the reading I meant to do so far this year. When in doubt, distract yourself from eating junk! You’ve got this mama.
