I get up each morning to exercise and this one particular morning last week, I just wasn’t feeling it. But, out of habit, I got up and went downstairs to work out. On the video, the instructor was doing these heinous ab exercises. I was feeling fire in muscles that I didn’t even know I had! I thought I heard him say, “only ten more.” In my mind, I thought, ‘Ten? I can’t do that!’ So, I dropped my legs and gave up.
Really, he had said, “only two more.” After two more reps, he stopped and moved on to the next exercise. I was so disappointed in myself. I gave up too early. I could have squeezed out two more reps. I had it in me, but I thought it was more than it really was, and I did the unthinkable…I gave up.
I’m sure there are things you are striving for in your life. Perhaps you are working to save your marriage. Maybe you are trying to get out of debt. You may be believing for a miracle in your child’s life. Or you may be struggling with a personal battle of your own. There are so many challenges that we have in our lives. But know this, if there were no challenges, we would never build any faith. Just like those exercises were building my ab muscles, those challenges you have in your life are building your muscles of belief. God is molding you and growing you to be the kind of person He can bless abundantly.
In your mind, you may be thinking some self-defeating thought:
I can’t do it anymore.
I’m just going to give up.
It’s not worth the fight.
I’m just not that lucky.
Forget luck! It’s about your endurance and your belief. What are you believing for? What are you striving for? Can you see it? Hear it? Taste it? Touch it? Is it so real to you that it seems as if it already exists? You’ve got to believe in your heart that God wants the very best for you, that He is fighting your fights for you, and that He will always accomplish what He set out to do.
Don’t give up. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep trusting. And get excited that God is doing a mighty work in your life. You may think it is further away than it really is. Remember, God can do things in moments that we can’t do in a lifetime. He can turn the tables in your life overnight.
Galatians 6:9 tells us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Keep on investing in your life as a mom and a homemaker. Keep rising early in the morning and putting forth the effort to build a happy family and a healthy home. Keep doing the good work that you know God has set before you. The little miracles determine the big miracles. When you keep the right spirit and put forth the right efforts, then you bring that miracle even closer.
Your miracle could be waiting right around the corner.
