“Miracles From Heaven”
Miracles From Heaven is based on the true story of Anna Beam’s miraculous recovery from a rare, incurable condition and her mother’s fight to save her life. Jennifer Garner plays the mother who passionately searches for answers while struggling to keep her faith, marriage and family, together, until a freak accident changes everything. Kylie Rogers Martin, Henderson and Queen Latifah also star.
The PG drama is an inspiring family story older kids to adults will enjoy but the mature themes and length may be too much for little ones.
There are numerous scenes of…
…hospital visits, painful treatments and personal family drama, dealing with a child who has a terminal illness. There are realistic issues raised about keeping faith in the midst of a crisis and discussions from opinionated, not-so-well-meaning Christians, who suggest Anna’s condition may be due to her sin or lack of faith.
And then, a miracle changes the tone of the whole movie. Anna climbs a giant cottonwood tree with her sister, falls headfirst into the hollowed trunk and survives with barely a scratch. As the trailer reveals, not only is Anna miraculously cured of her disease (which baffles the medical experts), but she also describes visiting a beautiful paradise, sitting on Jesus’ lap and being told she would be healed. Anna’s miracle renews her family’s faith, is an inspiration to their community and sends a message of hope and healing for all.
