Holly on Hollywood – MIB International

Holly on Hollywood
“MIB International”
by Holly McClure

MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL begins with a young girl, Molly, who sees her parents memory “neutralized” by MIB agents after an alien visits their home. She grows up determined to find MIB by becoming a scholar with brilliant computer skills and training to be a prime candidate. She’s hired by MIB Chief Agent O (Emma Thompson), becomes Agent M (Tessa Thompson), is partnered with the charmingly handsome Agent H (Chris Hemsworth), and the two work for High T (Liam Neeson) in London. They are sent on a mission to find a mole inside MIB headquarters and save the universe from The Hive, bent on destroying the earth.
The PG-13 is the fourth movie in the MIB series with the usual alien/sci-fi violence, goofy looking alien monsters, a scene where a man gets out of bed with an alien, lots of fight scenes and mild language, so parents heed the PG-13 warning, this is not a “kiddie” movie. Thompson and Hemsworth worked together in, Thor: Ragnarok and continue their great chemistry as partners. This MIB is more about scary bad guys called The Hive, chasing our duo to gain a special weapon to destroy the earth. There are cool guns, interesting locations, a cute little “pawn” like creature who protects his “queen” agent M, an unusual femme fatal and a “surprise” reveal. The storyline doesn’t have the same “cool” factor and chemistry WIll Smith and Tommy Lee Jones brought to the first 3 – but it’s a perfect summer popcorn movie that is entertaining, with witty one-liners, funny scenes, great banter between Hemsworth and Thompson, only one scary looking alien, lots of fun gadgets, great special effects and a cool flying car! I enjoyed this fun-filled MIB!
