I was out walking in the morning last week, and the sky just couldn’t make up its mind. Half of the sky was as clear as could be; and the other half was a sheet of gray. And I do mean a SHEET of gray. The wind was blowing gently against my face and I noticed that it was blowing that sheet over the sky. Then, as if on cue, the winds suddenly changed and started blowing in the exact opposite direction.
I stood, spellbound, as I watched the edge of the gray sheet of cloud roll up on the edges and get pushed back across the sky. It was phenomenal! It was literally a line directly across the sky, crossing the entire horizon. And it literally looked like it was a scroll rolling back. I stopped, dead in my tracks, and watched this incredible scene unfold. As the wind pushed the cloud scroll back, the sun’s rays began to light up the sky behind it.
The words of that old hymn came to mind…
“It is Well with my Soul”
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
Won’t it be wonderful when our faith is sight? When those things we are believing for are actually right there, real and tangible in our lives? Something we can see and witness? All of us are believing for something. Perhaps you are believing for healing in your marriage, a child to straighten out, a debt to be paid off, health to be restored. Whatever it is, keep believing. See it as if your desire is already fulfilled.
When our faith is firm, and we have clarity of vision, amazing things can happen. In just a moment, the winds changed and pushed that sheet of gray off the sky. In just a moment, God can turn a situation around entirely. Don’t let the clouds dim your focus, keep trusting that God is working things out in places that we can’t even see. Before you know it, the winds are going to change and the brilliance of God’s light is going to shine in your life. This is your time and it can happen. Believe it. Expect it. Know that those clouds are going to roll back just like a scroll and God is going to show up in amazing ways.
Hold on to your hat, mama. It’s coming.
