His Grace & A Little Lace

I’ve always been a DIY kinda girl. Growing up in a family with a mom who “did it all” from cooking amazing meals, cleaning , playing with 4 kids, making homemade play dough, and even sewing our dance costumes…it all seemed like a normal part of everyday life, MEANWHILE she was also running her own business from home.  Being raised in this environment I never once had the thought “wow, my mom does so much, how does she do it all?”…..UNTIL…fast foreword 32 years…. and here I am… in her shoes. And I think I ask that question daily 😉

I am mommy to the most darling almost 2 yr old girl – and super sweet 3mo old boy.  On top of that “full time responsibility of toddler and itty-bitty-babyhood – I run my “accidental company”. Yes, accidental company. You see, a year and a half ago I made myself a pair of lacey boot socks.  Everyone would stop me and ask where I got them, I put them up for sale – and within 48hrs…

I had over 400 requests for them. That was when my accidental company started. Now 16 months later my now company Grace & Lace has made and sold over 40,000 pairs of these lacey frilly boot socks. Who Knew?!

Owning an exploding business is no easy task in itself.  But learning to juggle family, moving, coming off of 4 months of strict bed rest, and having a new baby IS NO EASY TASK.  I get asked repeatedly how I do it all.  And the answer is “God”.  There is no way I could do all of this in my own strength. He has blessed me greatly with the most amazing husband that loves and supports me.  Who does dishes, cleans up, and plays with the kids without one complaint. God has blessed me with amazing friends who will drop anything to help,  and bring food “just because”. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve barely been able to make it out of my pajamas for the day, or how many “on the verge of meltdowns” I’ve had.  But one thing I do know – is that HE has always provided everything I need to make it through the day.  I’ve had to learn to lean on Him and not on my own strength.  And THAT was what my mom was so good at, and gracefully taught me to do the same!

I want to encourage you today that You too… “Can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!”-Philippians 4:13

Talk about great timing! I am preparing to teach the topic of “grace” to my Sunday School class of 14 year olds today! Thank you for sharing your personal experiences!

My mom set the bar high, too…and you are right ONLY by HIS grace can we accomplish all that He has called us to do. I think He gives us TOO MUCH so that we will depend on Him.
