Help, I Need Somebody!

Have you ever been staring at a plate of freshly baked cookies, or a bag of your favorite chips, or a delicious pie calling your name? You might have sat there in a moment of weakness debating whether or not you should have some, how badly you think you’d really feel afterwards, and justifying your way to indulging in that forbidden treat because of the terrible day you’ve just had. In those moments it’s so easy to forget every single reason why you’re doing what you’re doing and in that second as your foot takes one step towards it and then another, there IS something else you can do…

Help, I Need Somebody!

Use a lifeline! Don’t walk, run to your phone to text a friend who’s also on plan or get to your computer to jump on your accountability group and beg those ladies to talk you down! Even just getting on one of the THM groups would work ~ those ladies are amazing at talking you down when you need it. You can also pray out loud for the strength to walk away from said temptation. I mean the Lord did promise that He would provide a way out right? (1st Corinthians 10:13) You always have a choice, even when it feels like you don’t. Even when the off plan food is literally screaming your name and you can justify eating it in about a thousand different ways. Chew some gum, drink some water, or eat something that IS on plan.

Having some kind of accountability is so helpful in times like these. Sometimes we just need a friend to talk us down from a terrible decision. Sometimes we need that voice of reason to say STOP (in the name of love, before you eat that stuff, think it over…okay not quite the same lyrics but same sentiment I suppose). We are not helpless victims when it comes to our eating. My husband is sitting beside me eating mini chocolate bars as I type this and though I’m hungry and they’re tempting, eating them would only take me further away from my goal and that is not in my plan. I hope it’s not in yours either.
