Head Start on the Holidays!
by Hannah Keeley
Around the Keeley home, we get our decorations up even before the all the pumpkin pie and turkey leftovers are eaten. There are two reasons we do this…
Reason #1–We want to get a head start on the holidays and do all the decorating early so we can focus on other things like making gifts.
Reason #2–We are so stinkin’ excited about Christmas that we want to get it kicked off early and enjoy it as long as possible.
We lean WAY more to #2!
But, it is a great idea to get the decorating kicked off early so you can just sit back and take it all in. And, that’s our special project this week! By the way, if you are new to zoning your home, you can read all about it right HERE. If not, then this week we are deep cleaning and de-cluttering Zone 4 (outside areas and garage).
When you are taking out your decorations, this is also a good time to pick out a few boxes and pull out some items you no longer need or want. Don’t ever do a project around the house without pulling together some donations! This is just a great way to stay on top of all the clutter that somehow finds a way into our homes.
Before you do any decorating, don’t fall into the trap of going to the store and buying a pile of lights and such. Get stuff AFTER you do the majority of the decorating. This way, you can make a detailed list of exactly what items you need to purchase (if any). This year, Blair put all the lights up and then wrote down how many feet he still needed to cover. THEN we went to the store to pick up the lights. Believe me, it was hard to see all those adorable decorations and just leave with four boxes of lights, but I did it.
So, let’s get in the holiday mood and decorate! I would also suggest plenty of Christmas carols and cups of hot chocolate to really get you in the spirit.

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
